Trump says he trusts Iran to sign peace deal soon: ‘I think they’ve had it’
WASHINGTON, DC: Soon after the announcement of the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, Trump said that he thinks he can trust Iranian as they have had enough.
Trump’s statement came after he announced that the Strait of Hormuz was “completely open” and a peace deal with Iran could be reached in a matter of days.
Trump says Iranians have had enough
Over a telephonic conversation with ABC News on Friday, April 17, President Donald Trump said that he can trust Iran and will work with Iran to remove their enriched uranium.
“I think they've had it," Trump said. "I think they've had enough. That can happen to anybody. Even people like you and I can say, I've had enough.”
Signalling that Iran has suspended its nuclear program, Trump further said that the United States will help Iran to remove enriched uranium, which he called “nuclear dust.” He further suggested that it will be brought to the US.
Trump further said that work to move enriched uranium will be done in a “very peaceful manner.”
Denouncing the news of Iranians receiving $20 billion payment in exchange for moving the enriched uranium, Trump said they will get no money, and the reports are "fake news".
Blockading of ships will continue until deal
Assuring that things will be resolved “very soon,” Trump denied the possibility of removing the blockading of ships to and from the Iranian ports until a peace deal is finalized.
On whether he thinks Iran can be trusted to fulfill their commitments, Trump said he believes he can trust Iran.
Talking about who will be negotiating the peace deal, Trump said, "Steve [Witkoff] and Jared [Kushner] will be going out, and maybe JD [Vance]. Haven't spoken to JD about that yet."
Peace talks will take place in Islamabad
Talking about the potential second round of peace talks between the US and Iran, which could take place soon, Trump said that it will take place in Pakistan. The talk will take place in "Islamabad only. I'm not interested in going to countries that didn't help."
While there is no formal announcement, the second round can take place as soon as this weekend.
"They want to make a deal. They want to make some money, you know. ... They're not making any money as long as I have the blockade," Trump said.
