WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump appeared to suggest on Friday, May 30, that he may pardon Sean "Diddy" Combs if the embattled record producer gets a guilty verdict.

The president, who once referred to Diddy as a “good friend", also told reporters that he knew “people are thinking about” it, as reported by Entertainment Weekly.

“Well, nobody's asked, but I know people are thinking about it. I know some people are close to asking. First of all, I'd look at what's happening,” he said.

Trump says he’s not following Diddy’s trial

The commander-in-chief, however, also noted that he has not “been watching it too closely, although it's certainly getting a lot of coverage.”

Trump, who recently pardoned Todd Chrisley and his wife Julie, who had been convicted of tax evasion and bank fraud, further claimed that he hasn’t “seen" or "spoken" to Diddy in years.

“He used to really like me a lot, but I think when I ran for politics, he sort of- that relationship busted up, from what I read, I don’t know. He didn’t tell me that, but I’d read some little bit nasty statements in the paper all of a sudden,” the Republican leader mentioned.

Trump claims he ‘would certainly look at the facts’ if Diddy faces mistreatment

“So, I don’t know. I would certainly look at the facts. If I think somebody was mistreated, whether they like me or don’t like me, it wouldn't have any impact,” he added, before asserting, “It’s not a popularity contest, so I don’t know. I would certainly look at the facts.”

Meanwhile, the Bad Boy Records mogul is facing a federal criminal trial on numerous serious charges, like racketeering, trafficking, and other crimes following his 2024 arrest, for almost two weeks.

Though he pleaded not guilty to those charges, if convicted he could end up behind bars for life.

Cassie Ventura shares Diddy threatened her with private videos

One of the key testimonies against him was given by his former girlfriend Cassie Ventura, who in her nearly 20 hours of graphic testimony, claimed that Diddy was very controlling.

“Control was everything — from the way that I looked, to what I was working on that day, who I was speaking to. Control was an all-around thing to a certain point,” she told the court.

Ventura also provided insights into Diddy’s “freak-offs” and the alleged threat she faced while dating Scott Mescudi, also called rapper Kid Cudi.

She added, “He [Diddy] told me about videos that he had that he was going to release, and that he was going to hurt Scott and I.”
