This story has been updated to reflect information about the Ford employee who heckled Trump.

Update: On January 13, TJ Sabula, a 40-year-old line worker, was suspended from his job at the Ford F-150 plant in Dearborn, Michigan, after heckling President Donald Trump.

DEARBORN, MICHIGAN: President Donald Trump appears to be showing zero tolerance for misbehavior and refuses to hold back his anger toward anyone. This led to an incident during his tour of a Michigan Ford plant on Tuesday, January 13, where he was caught on video seemingly flipping someone off.

He reportedly flipped off a worker at the plant site and called him a “p*******e protector,” according to multiple reports. White House Communications Director Steven Cheung defended the president’s actions, describing them as an “appropriate” and “unambiguous response.”

Trump appears to flip someone off at Ford plant

During his visit to the Ford F-150 plant at the Detroit Economic Club, a worker began shouting at 47. It’s difficult to make out the full words, but TMZ suggest it included “p*******e protector.”

A 30-second video, first obtained by the outlet, shows the president pointing across the factory a few times as he walks. He then appears to flip off the worker with his right hand. True to his style, Trump yells back, clearly saying “f**k you” before giving the worker the middle finger.

The White House added in response to TMZ on Tuesday, January 14: “A lunatic was wildly screaming expletives in a complete fit of rage, and the President gave an appropriate and unambiguous response.” Even CNN Chief White House Correspondent Kaitlan Collins shared the TMZ clip on her X (formerly Twitter) account.

Ford’s Executive Director of Corporate Communications, David Tovar, commented, “We had a great event today and we’re proud of how our employees represented Ford. We’ve seen the clip you’re referring to."

"One of our core values is respect, and we don’t condone anyone saying anything inappropriate like that within our facilities. When that happens, we have a process to deal with it, but we don’t get into specific personnel matters," they added.

Michigan visit turned tense over Jeffrey Epstein records

Trump has long been under scrutiny for his handling of federal records linked to Jeffrey Epstein, the late financier who died by suicide in 2019. Many of his supporters believe that government documents could reveal Epstein’s connections to influential public figures, though Trump has consistently denied any involvement and has not been accused of wrongdoing as per CNN.

Now, his visit to the Michigan plant was intended to highlight his administration’s support for manufacturing, a key issue as the 2026 election approaches. But the sudden confrontation with a worker’s outburst was an incident no one expected.
