WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump lashed out at Fox News host Howard Kurtz for "weakly" defending him over the pseudo-firing of National Security Advisor Mike Waltz.

The POTUS called out the 71-year-old TV personality and asked him to retire in a Truth Social rant on Sunday, May 4, before adding that the Fox News host did not defend him with enough conviction.

During Sunday’s episode of 'Media Buzz', host Howard Kurtz was joined by Fox News contributor and MAGA supporter Ben Domenech and liberal Democratic strategist Leslie Marshall, who debated the ouster of NSA Mike Waltz and also got into a fiery argument over Trump’s polling.

Interestingly, Trump wasn’t satisfied with how the show's host handled things and claimed that Kurtz was defending him, but "weakly," Mediaite reported.

Trump wrote on Truth Social, "It is time for Howie Kurtz to retire! Every Woke Anchor in the Business, people that no one watched from CNN, MSDNC, and others, are plastered all over his show, with all really negative and fake statements, and then I am weakly 'defended' by Howie and his group (although Ben Domenech has been strong!)."

"The case Howie makes for me is so pathetic that it would be a lot better if he didn’t say anything. Anyway, that’s the way it is!" the POTUS added.

Following the show on Sunday, Kurtz took to X (formerly Twitter) and claimed that there were "lotta trolls out today."

He wrote, "Lotta trolls out today. I've known President Trump for 35 years, and if I hated him he wouldn't keep giving me interviews. Some people not interested in fairness."

He attached a post that read, "@MediaBuzzFNC @HowardKurtz why should Influencers be in the White House briefing room? Why do you hate @POTUS it shows every time you talk about him! Hater."

JD Vance on Thursday, May 1, revealed the real reason why Donald Trump removed Mike Waltz from the NSA role.

The 40-year-old vice president told Fox News 'Special Report' host Bret Baier, "We brought Mike on to do some serious reforms of the National Security Council. He has done that."

Vance continued, "I like Mike. I think he’s a great guy. He’s got the trust of both me and the president, but we also thought that he’d make a better UN ambassador as we get beyond this stage of the reforms that we’ve made to the National Security Council."

"I think you can make a good argument that it’s a promotion," he added.

Meanwhile, Trump took to Truth Social to announce that he was nominating Waltz to be US ambassador to the United Nations, which will require Senate confirmation, per the New York Post.

Vance added during his interview, "I think the media wants to frame this as a firing. Donald Trump has fired a lot of people. He doesn’t give them Senate-confirmed appointments afterwards. What he thinks is that Mike Waltz is going to better serve the administration, most importantly, the American people, in that role."

Meanwhile, Secretary of State Marco Rubio will serve as interim NSA.

Interestingly, Trump's decision to shuffle his Cabinet shocked people who are close to the White House, as many didn’t expect Waltz to lose his old job and get picked as UN envoy.
