WASHINGTON, DC: Former President Donald Trump launched a scathing attack on Vice President Kamala Harris, claiming she treated her predecessor Mike Pence horribly.

In an interview on Fox News' 'Life, Liberty & Levin' aired on Sunday, September 1, the GOP presidential nominee ripped into his Democratic rival, labeling her a "nasty person," as per a clip shared on X (formerly Twitter).

"Now they have Kamala, who they say has many deficiencies. But she's a nasty person," Trump said to host Mark Levin.

"The way she treated Mike Pence was horrible. The way she treats people is horrible," he continued. "But the way she treated Justice [Brett] Kavanaugh during that hearing, in the history of Congress, nobody's been treated that way."

Mike Pence: Trump's vice president turned rival

Mike Pence, the running mate of Trump's 2016 and 2020 presidential races, served as the vice president for the entirety of the real estate mogul's White House tenure. However, Trump's election fraud claims following his defeat in 2020 and alleged attempt to overturn the results led the then-vice president to distance himself from his boss.

On January 6, 2021, the MAGA leader's supporters stormed the Capitol to prevent the certification of President Joe Biden's victory, constructed gallows, and chanted "hang Mike Pence."

Witnesses later divulged to a House committee investigating the insurrection that Trump signaled support to those who shouted "hang Mike Pence," according to HuffPost.

In August 2023, Trump blasted his former VP, who at the time had launched his presidential bid for the 2024 race, claiming he never asked Pence to put him "above the Constitution."

"He's delusional, and now he wants to show he's a tough guy," the ex-president wrote on Truth Social a year ago.

Earlier this year, Pence declared that he would not endorse Trump for the White House.

"Donald Trump is pursuing and articulating an agenda that is at odds with the conservative agenda that we governed on during our four years. That's why I cannot in good conscience endorse Donald Trump in this campaign," he said.

However, it is unclear what event Trump referred to where Harris treated her predecessor poorly in his recent sit-down with Levin. It could be from the 2020 debate when Harris pushed back as Pence tried to interrupt her.

"Mr Vice President, I'm speaking," Harris said at the time. "I'm speaking."

Internet reminds Trump how he treated Pence as he slams Harris for being 'horrible' to ex-VP

Trump's claim that Harris treated Pence horribly sparked backlash online. Netizens rebuked the former president's assertion, pointing out how he treated the ex-vice president, especially during the Capitol riot.

"All of a sudden, Donald Trump is concerned about how people treat Mike Pence. Yes, Kamala Harris definitely took Pence to the woodshed in that 2020 debate, but at least she didn’t try to lynch him. She let him go home to 'mother,'" a user said.

"President Trump's criticism of Kamala Harris's treatment of Mike Pence rings hollow given his own history of attacking Pence. Trump's comments about Pence were not only derogatory but also endangered his life during the January 6th insurrection. It's essential to hold all leaders accountable for their actions and words, regardless of party affiliation. Let's focus on promoting civility, respect, and truth in our political discourse," another added.

"I’m pretty sure if Kamala Harris were president and an angry mob were storming the capitol to hang the VP, she would act immediately and not sit on the couch watching it on TV amused for hours. Maybe sit this one out about being nasty to Mike Pence," a third user said.

"Why would she have anything to do with Pence? If anything. She’s a professional & would have done things by the book. Everything trump says is a reflection of what he did," read a fourth response.

"He is out of his mind. He is the one who treated Mike Pence horribly. We can’t have this man in the White House," someone else chimed in.

"You thought what Kamala did was horrible, you’re gonna want to sit down when I tell you how his former boss treated him. It’s a doozy," an individual wrote.

"I think he needs to stay in his own lane when it comes to how someone treated Mike Pence horribly," another user said.

"The lack of self awareness is astounding," read one remark.
