WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump on Sunday, December 14, unveiled a portrait depicting his raised-fist moment from the Butler campaign rally in Pennsylvania, following a shooting attempt in 2024. The portrait was displayed in the White House lobby.
Trump survived the incident while speaking at an open-air campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13, 2024, when a bullet grazed his upper right ear.
Trump unveils raised-fist portrait in White House
President Donald Trump took to Truth Social on Sunday and shared a photo of himself standing in the White House lobby, where a portrait depicting his raised-fist moment from the Butler rally is visible behind him.
Trump captioned the post, “In the lobby of our beautiful White House!”
The shooter, identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, was swiftly taken down by a Secret Service sniper. In September 2024, Trump survived another attempt on his life while golfing at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida. The suspect in that incident was identified as 58-year-old Ryan Wesley Routh.
In June 2025, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed Iran was behind the multiple attempts on Trump’s life last year. In a Fox News interview with Brett Baier on June 15, Netanyahu said, “These people who chant, ‘Death to America,’ tried to a******ate President Trump twice.”

So we’re defending ourselves, but we’re also defending the world.”
During the interview, Baier asked, “You just said Iran tried to assassinate President Trump twice. Do you have intel that the assassination attempts on President Trump were directly from Iran?”
Netanyahu responded, “Through proxies, yes. Through their intel, yes. They want to kill him.”
Trump comeback shaped by Butler rally shooting
Fox Nation’s recent docu-special, 'Art of the Surge: The Donald Trump Comeback,' renewed attention on the dramatic rally moment, featuring drone footage and the Secret Service’s frantic response.
President Trump reflected on how close he came to death that day, telling the outlet, “130 yards is like sinking a one-foot putt,” referring to the sniper’s distance. “It’s considered really close,” he added.
The incident also marked a turning point in Trump’s 2024 campaign. Some unlikely former critics, including Jeff Bezos and Mark Zuckerberg, shifted their tone after witnessing Trump survive the shooting and raise his fist moments later.
The book noted, “Bezos said Trump’s instincts showed who he was, and he wanted them to have a friendship.” Susie Wiles added, “Before, some of these people wouldn’t give him the time of day. Trump loved it. He was having a great time.”
According to the book, Zuckerberg said seeing Trump “pump his fist in the air” after being shot was “one of the most bada** things” he had ever seen.
