WASHINGTON, DC: Mary Trump, the estranged niece of President Trump, has made a new prediction regarding her uncle’s presidency, expressing serious concerns about the direction of his leadership.

In her most recent Substack post, Mary, a well-known and outspoken critic of the president, expressed her view of him struggling to maintain control over the political narrative.

She warned that his ongoing actions could have negative consequences for the country.

Mary Trump’s prediction and criticism of Trump

In her post titled 'The Good in Us', published on Tuesday, December 23, Mary wrote that her uncle “has lost the ability to control the narrative,” which she says contributes to “devastating uncertainty about our country’s future.”

“The strategy of lying, spinning, and obfuscating isn’t effective anymore and where, at least to a certain group of people, he looked strong, forceful, and full of fight, he now appears diminished to the point of impotence,” she further wrote.

Mary also claimed that the president’s problems have accumulated because “the solution to them has become more complicated.”

She added that Trump could pretend his problems do not exist, but “convincing others they don’t requires more than yelling at reporters or telling people not to trust their own lived experiences.”

Mary further said that while the United States is “on the precipice of something awful,” the country can still pull itself back, while she continued offered a bleak outlook specifically for her uncle’s political trajectory.

She said that Trump is “on a slippery slope down which he will continue to slide.”

According to her, reversing course would require him to recognize his limitations, defer to experts, admit his mistakes, and change direction, steps she believes Trump is incapable of taking.

She concluded that Trump’s inability to change, a trait she asserts he has always exhibited, “may finally be working to our advantage.”

Trump’s approval ratings and WH Response to Mary Trump

Her post comes as Trump’s approval ratings have fallen since his return to the White House in January.

A recent YouGov and The Economist poll showed that only 39 percent of voters approve of Trump’s performance, while 57 percent disapprove.

The survey was conducted among 1,592 adults from December 20 to 22, 2025.

On Truth Social, Trump labeled the unfavorable polls as “fake” and claimed they were influenced by the “Radical Left Media.”

CNN analyst Harry Enten observed that Trump’s negative net approval rating had remained consistent over several consecutive days.

Trump’s approval has declined amid voter concerns about the economy, the rising cost of living, and the controversy surrounding the Epstein files.

Trump campaigned on releasing the files, but his administration was slow to do so until Congress voted to compel their release last month.

White House Communications Director Steven Cheung reacted to Mary Trump’s criticism by telling Newsweek that “Mary Trump is a stone‑old loser who doesn’t have a clue about anything.”
