PHOENIX, ARIZONA: The emotionally charged memorial for slain conservative activist Charlie Kirk blended grief with moments of levity on Sunday, September 21, as President Donald Trump danced on stage, prompting a rare smile from Kirk’s widow, Erika.
The event drew tens of thousands of mourners, including Vice President JD Vance, senior administration officials, and young conservatives influenced by Kirk’s work, to honor the 31-year-old firebrand whose death has shaken the movement.

Donald Trump calls Kirk a 'martyr for America’s freedom'
Taking the stage at State Farm Stadium, Trump hailed Kirk as “a martyr now for America’s freedom” and credited him with being a “key force” behind his 2024 victory.

“I know I speak for everyone here today when I say that none of us will ever forget Charlie. And neither now will history,” Trump said to a standing ovation. As Trump swayed gently on stage, lip-syncing along to music, Erika Kirk, visibly emotional, managed a smile through her tears.

During her tribute, Erika Kirk stunned attendees by publicly forgiving Tyler Robinson, the 22-year-old accused of killing her husband. “My husband, Charlie, he wanted to save young men, just like the one who took his life,” she said. “I forgive him.”

Donald Trump vows ‘ultimate punishment’ for Charlie Kirk murder suspect
Trump delivered a powerful message that Tylor Robinson, the accused of murdering conservative activist Charlie Kirk, will get “ultimate punishment.”
“The depraved assassin who planned and executed Charlie’s killing has been arrested and charged with capital murder,” Trump declared to thunderous applause. “God willing, he will receive the full and ultimate punishment for his horrific crime.”

The president said Charlie Kirk’s assassination on September 10 was more than the loss of a single life.
“You can’t let that happen. You can’t let that happen to a country,” Trump warned, condemning political violence as a direct threat to America’s freedoms. “This was not just an attack on Charlie, it was an attack on everything he stood for.”
Trump says DOJ probing extremist networks behind Charlie Kirk killing
Trump revealed that the Department of Justice is pursuing a wider investigation into extremist groups that may have supported the attack.
“The DOJ is investigating networks of radical left maniacs who fund, organize, and perpetrate such violence,” he said. “Law enforcement can only be the beginning of our response to Charlie’s murder.”

Further, he said, “Charlie Kirk’s assassination was an assault on all conservatives’ ideals. “The gun was pointed at him, but the bullet was aimed at all of us. Charlie was killed for expressing the very ideas that virtually everyone in this arena and most other places throughout our country deeply believed in,” Trump said.
