WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump was caught in a widely shared press photograph taken during a speech to House Republicans at the Kennedy Center that quickly went viral on social media.

The image captured him mid-speech with exaggerated gestures and a striking expression that quickly drew humorous reactions online. The image emerged during remarks in which Trump addressed transgender participation in women’s sports, a subject tied to his policy actions.

Donald Trump reacts to transgender participation in sports

In the image, Trump is shown mocking transgender athletes excelling in women’s weightlifting, complete with grunts and exaggerated movements.

The White House’s Rapid Response 47 account also posted a clip featuring additional impressions and remarks on X, captioned, "@POTUS on his imitation of ‘trans athletes’ in women's sports: ‘My wife HATES when I do this.'"

At the event, Trump remarked that his wife, First Lady Melania Trump, disapproves of his dancing and weightlifting impression, adding that 'the weightlifting is terrible' before he launched into his performance.

Trump also repeatedly referred to what he derisively called 'men in women’s sports,' telling GOP lawmakers that Democrats 'fight like hell' to allow transgender women to compete in women’s athletics, and adding that the issue remains one of the most politically potent weapons in his arsenal.

Over the past year, the Trump administration has taken steps to limit the rights of transgender and intersex individuals within the federal government. It has implemented a policy barring transgender people from serving in the military, a measure the Supreme Court has allowed to remain in effect while legal challenges continue.

Additionally, the administration has attempted to prevent citizens from selecting a gender designation on their passports that reflects their gender identity.
