LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Donald Trump's choice for White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt burst out laughing when asked about comedian and talk show host Ellen DeGeneres leaving the United States after the GOP nominee's decisive victory in the 2024 general election against his Democratic rival Kamala Harris, reported TMZ on Thursday, November 21.

Ellen and her wife Portia de Rossi went across the Atlantic to settle down in the United Kingdom as Trump is making preparations to move into the Oval Office for the second term.

When the publication reached out to Leavitt for her reaction to the celebrity television host's drastic move, she simply responded, "HAHAHA." The absence of a structured comment worried the publication as they considered the response a telling sign of the things to come.

Where is Ellen DeGeneres?

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi have reportedly left their home in Montecito, California, and settled in a new home in the Cotswolds, a region in South West England, about 2 hours from London.

An insider source told TMZ that the couple had bought their new place ahead of the general election. However, Trump's victory had left them "very disillusioned" and prompted them to immediately "get the hell out".

A high-profile donor of the Harris campaign, Ellen reportedly plans to sell their house in California, where they had previously sold another mansion for a substantial sum of $96 million.

Karoline Leavitt set to become youngest White House Press Secretary

According to Fox News, Karoline Leavitt will become the youngest White House Press Secretary in the history of the United States at the age of 27, when Donald Trump takes office next year.

The president-elect announced Leavitt's nomination on November 15, stating, "Karoline Leavitt did a phenomenal job as the National Press Secretary on my Historic Campaign, and I am pleased to announce she will serve as White House Press Secretary."

"Karoline is smart, tough, and has proven to be a highly effective communicator. I have the utmost confidence she will excel at the podium, and help deliver our message to the American People as we, Make America Great Again," he added.

Leavitt shared the announcement on the social media platform X, writing, "Thank you, President Trump, for believing in me. I am humbled and honored. Let’s MAGA!"
