Tyreek Hill’s license was briefly revoked long before being bashed by cops for ‘careless driving’
MIAMI, FLORIDA: Miami Dolphins star Tyreek Hill hadn't been precisely a skilled driver before making headlines on Sunday, September 8, during a contentious traffic check with the cops.
Records obtained by the New York Post revealed that Hill received a citation in 2018 for failing to stop at a red light signal years before signing with the Dolphins.
The former Kansas City Chiefs star's license was suspended by a judge and another citation was added eight days after he neglected to pay the ticket by August 8, 2018.

NFL player Tyreek Hill's driving license was temporarily revoked in 2018
Tyreek Hill, a wide receiver for the Miami Dolphins, was pulled over for a seat belt infraction and "careless driving" prior to Sunday's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Hill was pulled over, detained, and given two tickets as a consequence of the incident, which took place on westbound Northwest 199 Street.
But this was not Hill's first instance. The NFL player was cited for failing to stop at a red light by the Miami-Dade Police Department, years before the wide receiver inked a contract with the Dolphins.
According to documents, Hill had his driver's license suspended by a judge on August 16, 2018, after he neglected to pay the ticket by August 8, 2018.
The suspension was, however, removed on September 6, 2018, following Hill's $293 settlement payment.
Coming to the September 8, 2024 incident, Hill's traffic stop resulted in two citations: one for reckless driving en route to Hard Rock Stadium and another for failing to wear a seatbelt.
Following the release of bodycam footage that showed the heated exchange between Hill and law enforcement, the Miami-Dade Police Department released the specifics of the citations on Tuesday, September 12, along with the identity of the officer.
Hill was found in violation of Florida's definition of careless driving, established in statute 316.1925.
In accordance with the statute, "Any person operating a vehicle upon the streets or highways within the state shall drive the same in a careful and prudent manner... Failure to drive in such manner shall constitute careless driving and a violation of this section," per Fox News.
Officer M Batista, badge number 9771, signed the tickets for Hill's claimed infractions, which include $179 for careless driving and $129 for not wearing a seatbelt, per NBC News.
Miami-Dade police officer at the center of Tyreek Hill traffic incident was suspended multiple times
According to reports, the Miami-Dade Police officer who was involved in Tyreek Hill's controversial traffic stop was placed on administrative responsibilities and has since been suspended several times.
Danny Torres was named as the officer who detained Hill on Sunday, September 8. Internal affairs is currently looking into him, the department said in a statement to the publication.
According to the employee biography, Officer Danny Torres has been suspended at least six times in his 27-year tenure, which the Miami-Dade Police Department provided late Friday, September 13, afternoon, as reported by CNN.
The profile revealed details of a 20-day ban in 2018. Torres received a ten-day suspension for another 2019 incident. The last four suspensions, which occurred between 2014 and 2016, lasted for five days apiece. There was no list of suspension details.
The report also revealed that Torres got at least four written reprimands between 1999 and 2020. Six complaints total—four of which accuse Torres of using force—were submitted to the employee report between 2004 and 2018.
The investigation turned up sufficient evidence in a single instance to support a use of force complaint against Torres. The other complaints included claims of inappropriate behavior, disrespectful behavior, inappropriate use of a body-worn camera, and incorrect process.
According to the investigation, Torres used an array of force tactics from 2002 to 2022, including pushing, dragging, striking, and hitting, per his employment file.
Cuts, scrapes, and bruises were the results of several of these occurrences, although the report did not specify who was hurt.
