UFC White House attack plot: Alleged 'shepherd' ringleader was Mexican migrant who overstayed visa
WASHINGTON, DC: The suspected organizer of the foiled plot targeting the UFC Freedom 250 event at the White House has been identified as a Mexican national who allegedly remained in the United States long after his visitor visa expired and later received protection under the Obama-era DACA program.
The revelation made by DHS on Thursday, June 18, has added a major immigration dimension to an already high-profile investigation, with Trump administration officials arguing that the case raises serious questions about visa enforcement and long-term immigration policies.

Suspect identified as an illegal Mexican immigrant
While federal authorities have already outlined allegations surrounding the disrupted attack plot, the latest disclosures from the Department of Homeland Security have shifted attention to the background of the man investigators describe as the operation's alleged ringleader.
According to DHS, Abraham Hermosillo Alvarez entered the United States on a B-2 visitor visa but allegedly failed to leave after that authorization expired in 2001.
Years later, during the Obama administration, he received protection under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, which shields certain undocumented immigrants from deportation and allows them to work legally in the country.
Officials say Alvarez is now at the center of a federal investigation involving an alleged conspiracy connected to the UFC Freedom 250 event, a major gathering that drew thousands of attendees and several high-profile political and business figures to the White House.
Trump administration officials seized on the development, arguing that Alvarez's immigration history highlights weaknesses in the system.

Homeland Security officials stated that Alvarez should not have remained in the country after his visa expired and pointed to the case as an example of why stricter enforcement measures are needed.
Abraham Hermosillo Alvarez planned a massive attack
Investigators believe Alvarez played a leading role in organizing the alleged plot.
Authorities claim he used the alias "Shepherd" in encrypted communications and was involved in planning discussions with other suspects.
Prosecutors allege that he helped coordinate operational details and communicated with individuals who were discussing potential methods of carrying out an attack connected to the White House event.
Federal investigators have described him as the person responsible for directing and organizing much of the alleged planning activity.
An immigration detainer has reportedly been lodged against Alvarez following his arrest.
The Department of Justice has charged multiple suspects in connection with the case, and officials say the investigation remains active as authorities continue examining communications and evidence gathered during the operation.
Authorities have emphasized that the alleged plan never reached execution and was disrupted before it could pose an immediate threat to attendees.
Investigators claim members of the group discussed using drones and other tactics to create confusion around the event.
However, officials say law enforcement intervention prevented the plan from advancing further.
The FBI, Department of Justice and other federal agencies have credited a coordinated multi-state investigation with stopping the alleged conspiracy before any attack occurred.
