WASHINGTON, DC: JD Vance has landed in hot water once again, this time for a rant from 2021 that has resurfaced.

In this tirade, Donald Trump's running mate accuses teachers who do not have biological children of "brainwashing" students in their classrooms.

JD Vance targets teachers without biological children

In audio recently obtained by TMZ, Ohio Senator JD Vance declared, “I think our conservative idea is that parents and families should determine what children learn [and] what values they are brought up with.”

Vance targeted childless individuals on the left.

“So many leaders of the left — and I hate to be so personal about this — but there are people without kids trying to brainwash the minds of our children. That really disorients me and it really disturbs me," he said during a leadership forum hosted by the Center for Christian Virtue in October 2021, moderated by conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt and the group's president Aaron Baer.

Vance was one of several Republican candidates participating in the Ohio Senate race for 2022. When asked about how to address concerns regarding schools and make them more accountable to parents, he took aim at Randi Weingarten — the president of the American Federation of Teachers who has described herself as “a mother by marriage".

Vance slighted Weingarten by saying she “doesn’t have a single child” and declared, “If she wants to brainwash and destroy the mind of children, she should have some of her own and leave ours the hell alone.”

A 30-second clip of these comments was brought to light again by the liberal news site Heartland Signal and was later amplified by Vice President Kamala Harris' campaign.

JD Vance's 'childless cat lady' narrative

This is not the first time JD Vance has faced pushback for his remarks about childless individuals in positions of power. Previously, he referred to Vice President Kamala Harris as one of the “childless cat ladies” who "want to make the rest of the country miserable, too".

Vance argued that the US is being run by “a bunch of childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives and the choices that they've made, and so they want to make the rest of the country miserable, too."

He pointed to figures like Harris, Pete Buttigieg, and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, saying, “It's just a basic fact — you look at Kamala Harris, Pete Buttigieg, AOC — the entire future of the Democrats is controlled by people without children. And how does it make any sense that we've turned our country over to people who don't really have a direct stake in it?”

Weingarten, whose union recently endorsed Harris, responded to Vance’s comments, describing them as “gross” and “insulting to millions of modern families, and school teachers including Catholic nuns, none of whom should be targeted for their family decisions.”

Taylor Van Kirk, a spokesperson for Vance, defended his statements in a comment to NBC News. "Vance will continue to loudly call this crap out to defend our kids," she said.

“There is no bigger threat to American children than the left-wing indoctrination being peddled in our schools by radicals like Randi Weingarten, with the support of Kamala Harris and Tim Walz.”

On the other hand, president of the National Education Association Becky Pringle insisted that Vance and Trump have no respect for educators who “dedicate their lives to serving students.”

She further accused them of pushing “an extreme, unprecedented Project 2025 agenda on America that will fundamentally jeopardize our children’s futures and give Trump unprecedented power over our daily lives.”

JD Vance slammed online for resurfaced comments

JD Vance's comments sparked a wave of backlash on social media.

"Speaking of children, JD Vance is the poster child for buyer’s remorse," one posted on X.

"It's not just weird how he’s obsessed with other people having kids, it’s creepy," another wrote.

"Weird and obsessive. Like why does it matter? Why does he not trust women unless they’ve given birth? It’s creepy as hell," a third user offered.

"When he converted to Catholicism, did they skip the part about nuns?" someone else quipped.

"Why so fixated on others? Talk about future plans," read a comment.

"Guy is demented, plain and simple," another chimed in.

It's worth noting that several Republicans have targeted Weingarten's status as a parent. In a 2021 Fox News interview, Senator Tom Cotton (R-Ark) said, “Randi Weingarten is a joke. Randi Weingarten does not even have children of her own. What in the hell does she know about raising and teaching kids?”

Likewise, Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) made similar remarks last year, NBC News reported.
