Violet Affleck opens up on her struggle with post-viral condition in 2019
The 18-year-old shared her experience during the public event. "I contracted a post-viral condition in 2019. I'm OK now, but I saw firsthand that medicine does not always have answers to the consequences of even minor viruses. The Covid-19 pandemic has thrown that into sharper relief," Violet revealed.
According to the Mayo clinic, “A post-viral condition occurs following a viral infection, and is characterized by possible fatigue, lethargy, memory loss, inability to focus, and exhaustion, and can last for months following the initial infection.”
"One in 10 infections leads to long Covid-19, which is a devastating neurological and cardiovascular illness that can take away people's ability to work, see, move and even think," Violet said, emphasizing that it has affected the weakest section of society the most.
"To confront the long Covid-19 crisis, I demand mask availability, air filtration and far-UVC lights in government facilities, including jails and detention centers," she stated, adding "mask mandates in county medical facilities."
"We must expand the availability of free tests and treatment and, most importantly, the county must oppose mask bans for any reason," she continued, reports ET.
"They do not keep us safer, they make vulnerable members of our community less safe and make everyone less able to participate in Los Angeles together. Thank you," Violent concluded.

Another expressed, "I want to be Violet's bestie! 😷❤️ At 18 she has more courage than some people will ever have in their entire lifetimes."
"People in LA struggling with rent, and you're worried about masks," one reasoned.
A critic claimed, "This isn't a win. This is an embarrassment that someone in 2024 is so infected by propaganda they still think masks are useful. This is ludicrous."
