WASHINGTON, DC: Former GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy was grilled by CNN host Kate Bolduan over Donald Trump's shifting stance on policies, as the GOP nominee's campaign surrogate attempted to level the same accusation against Vice President and Democratic nominee Kamala Harris during an interview on Wednesday, September 4.

Harris' opinions on multiple issues including fracking and health insurance have evolved since she ran for the White House for the first time back in 2020. While MAGA has used it as a point of attack, the Democrats have found it easier to hit back, with Trump failing to solidify his stand on controversial issues such as reproductive healthcare.

The testy exchange between Vivek Ramaswamy and Kate Bolduan

Vivek Ramaswamy launched a scathing attack on Harris' policies on CNN, saying, "If we’re able to use Kamala Harris’ own words against her, as I believe we should, she ran for president favoring a tax on unrealized capital gains, favoring an abolition — her words — to abolish private health insurance, a ban on fracking, bans on offshore drilling. These are the kinds of policies that absolutely are not mainstream for most Americans."

"And this is where I do think the debate will be useful. I do think that greater media scrutiny of Kamala Harris, hopefully with more sit-down interviews than we’ve had so far, will be helpful."

"Say what you will, or you may or may not agree with Donald Trump, he and JD Vance have sat for tens of interviews, as have other members of the campaign and surrogate team," he boasted. "The reality is we haven’t seen the same from Kamala Harris. I do expect that’s going to change in the next couple of months, and I believe voters are going to be very well-informed heading into November."

The anchor responded by telling Ramaswamy that Harris had shifted her position on some of the issues over the last four years.

"Vivek, but on banning private health insurance, she has said she does not believe that, and she does not believe that now. On banning fracking, she has made clear, and she did in the interview with Dana Bash, that she does not support that anymore," said Bolduan.

She stopped Ramaswamy from interjecting, stating, "I’m going to ask the question, then you can totally answer."

"(Harris) said very clearly that now is, this is, those are not her positions. If evolving on an issue, if evolving on a position — you can even call it flip-flopping on an issue — if that is now not allowed, if that should be, you know, the death knell to a campaign. Donald Trump’s got issues there," noted Bolduan.

"So look, the reality is Donald Trump’s been clear about his policy positions. With Kamala Harris, I want to be specific about this, though," began Ramaswamy, as Bolduan chimed in, "On abortion?"

The former president recently faced backlash for voting against expanding abortion rights in Florida after suggesting that he would support it.

Ramaswamy tried to explain the action by blaming the “vague crafting” of the language of the ballot measure, as well as bringing up the false claim of Democrats allowing abortion “up to the point of birth” or even “executing” a baby after it is born. He was called out by Bolduan for his claims on air.

Internet trolls Vivek Ramaswamy for his comments

Netizens reacting to the news on the Mediaite website slammed Vivek Ramaswamy over his arguments. The following comments demonstrate the predominant takes.

"You’d have to be pretty dumb to believe the crap Ramaswamy is peddling," wrote a person.

"He's a Greasy Grifter! Never voted or engaged in any public service in his life," stated another.

"Ramaswamy: 'So look, the reality is Donald Trump’s been clear about his policy positions.' Oh really, since when? Do you speak jibberish Ramaswamy?" jibed a third.

"He's just a scammer," added a fourth.

"If Trumpers cared about intellectual consistency, facts, and objective reality, they wouldn’t be Trumpers," quipped a fifth.
