PARIS, FRANCE: LeBron James experienced an embarrassing moment during Team USA and Brazil’s quarter-final clash.

The NBA legend noticed the crowd cheering when the camera panned on him and believed the exciting noise was for him. 

The crowd was cheering for French swimmer Leon Marchand 

However, it was their local boy and gold medalist French swimmer Leon Marchand who was in the Bercy arena. 

The 39-year-old can be seen waving as he sat on the bench and pretended to put a crown on his head, his signature King James move.

The game was comprehensively won by Team USA, beating the South American team by a 122-87 score, reports New York Post.

After the game, James told the press, "We've got to continue to help each other spread the ball out and we'll be in a great rhythm."

Team USA will next face Serbia in the semi-finals. "We understand and we see an opportunity. The only game that's guaranteed is the next one now," LeBron James said on the challenge ahead.

"That's the only thing we focus on and we look forward to the match. Every game is its own test. No matter what happened in the first two, it's about what goes down Thursday night," the 39-year-old added.

Internet shares its take on LeBron James' gaffe 

Netizens poked fun at LeBron James for his misunderstood reaction at crowd cheering during one of the games at Paris 2024 Olympics. Many felt the basketball legend is self-obsessed for believing everything is about him. 

One person wrote on X, "Imagine being Lebron James and being overshadowed by a swimmer."

"Dude has major ego problems, always thinks everything is about him everywhere he goes," a second user wrote.
