PARIS, FRANCE: In a bold response to former president Donald Trump's recent comments about "Black jobs", sports icons Simone Biles and LeBron James have publicly clapped back, using their achievements to emphasize their pride in their careers and identities, as per Mashable.

The exchange occurred after Biles secured her second gold medal at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris on Thursday, August 1, sparking a viral moment on social media. On Friday, Biles took to her X account to retweet a post celebrating her latest victory.

In her retweet, Simone Biles wittily commented that she loved her "Black job," a phrase that seemed to reference Donald Trump's divisive remarks.

Shortly after, LeBron James joined the conversation by retweeting Biles' post, affectionately dubbing her the "Black GOAT" with an emoji of a black heart and a goat.

The original post Biles retweeted read, "Simone Biles being the GOAT, winning Gold medals and dominating gymnastics is her black job."

The term "Black job" gained attention after Trump used it during a recent election debate and rally. He claimed that migrants were taking "Black jobs" and "Hispanic jobs", without providing further explanation.

At a rally during the recent National Association of Black Journalists convention, Trump stated, "I will tell you that coming from the border, are millions and millions of people that happen to be taking Black jobs... A Black job is anybody that has a job. That's what it is."

Trump's remarks didn't stop there; he also made controversial statements about Vice President Kamala Harris' racial identity.

He highlighted her biracial background, and suggested she wasn't fully Black because she "promoted Indian heritage".

Trump said, "I didn't know she was Black until a number of years ago when she happened to turn Black, and now she wants to be known as Black. So I don't know, is she Indian, or is she Black?"

Despite the off-field drama, both James and Biles have been excelling in their respective sports at the Paris Olympics. LeBron, at 39, has been a key player for the US men's basketball team, leading them to victory against Serbia.

Meanwhile, 27-year-old Biles has been dominating the gymnastics events in Paris. She has already secured three gold medals, including in the Women's Artistic Individual All-Around, Women's Artistic Team All-Around, and Women's Vault.
