Wendy Williams’ NYC home sold at $822K loss after ex-host declared ‘incapacitated’ amid health struggles
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: The court-appointed legal guardian of Wendy Williams has reportedly sold her luxurious penthouse located in Manhattan after the former host was declared “incapacitated” amid her ongoing serious health issues.
The sale was finalized on May 10 after the buyer paid $3.75 million for the three-bedroom, three-bathroom Manhattan property, The New York Post reported.
NYC house was sold despite huge loss
The publication also reported that the deal was not profitable for Williams as she bore a loss of around $822,000 after buying the 2,400-square-foot house for $4.5 million in July 2021.
A source shared, “Wendy’s dream has always been to live in Manhattan in a dream apartment but never got a chance to do so. It is a very unfortunate situation.”
Reports said that the property was sold since the ex-broadcaster has been in immense debt. She owes $568,451.57 in unpaid taxes.
Wendy Williams diagnosed with primary progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia
This came after a Lifetime documentary, ‘Where is Wendy Williams?’, showcased the struggles of Williams and her declining health.
Besides, in February, her care team said via a statement, “As Wendy's fans are aware, in the past she has been open with the public about her medical struggles with Graves' Disease and Lymphedema as well as other significant challenges related to her health.”
The statement continued, “In 2023, after undergoing a battery of medical tests, Wendy was officially diagnosed with primary progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia (FTD)."
“Aphasia, a condition affecting language and communication abilities, and frontotemporal dementia, a progressive disorder impacting behavior and cognitive functions, have already presented significant hurdles in Wendy's life,” it added.
“The decision to share this news was difficult and made after careful consideration, not only to advocate for understanding and compassion for Wendy but to raise awareness about aphasia and frontotemporal dementia and support the thousands of others facing similar circumstances,” her care team added.
Wendy Williams’ family had no idea where she is
The statement was released to the public a day after Williams’ family spoke with PEOPLE, where they claimed she was “in a wellness, healing type of environment.”
Her sister Wanda Finnie told the magazine, “I spoke with her yesterday and I speak with her very regularly when she reaches out to me. She is, from what I understand, in a wellness, healing type of environment.”
She also noted that they “cannot reach out to her, but she can reach out to us.”

“And she is in a healing place emotionally. She's not the person that you see in this film,” Finnie added while referring to the documentary.
