“I am not cognitively impaired, but I feel like I am in prison. I’m definitely isolated. To talk to these people who live here, that is not my cup of tea,” Williams declared.

Inside Wendy Williams' guardianship

Wendy Williams was placed under guardianship in 2022 following diagnoses of frontotemporal dementia and aphasia, conditions her team claims impair her decision-making abilities.

Wendy Williams' rare public appearances and family support

Despite her isolation, Wendy Williams has made brief appearances in public. In December 2024, she attended her son Kevin Hunter Jr’s graduation in Florida.

However, the event was marred by tension, with Williams later seen in a heated confrontation with her caretakers during a celebratory dinner.

Kevin Hunter Jr has been vocal about his mother’s struggles, posting on Instagram in December 2024 that she is “sober” and longs to “come home.”

“Isolation is killing her faster than anything else,” he added.

Wendy Williams hopes for freedom and family reunions

Wendy Williams expressed her desire to celebrate her father’s 94th birthday in Miami in February and to eventually live there with her family.

These aspirations contrast sharply with her current situation, which she likened to being in “prison.” The interview ended with her signature catchphrase, “How you doin’?”

Host Charlamagne Tha God urged listeners to spread the story on social media, calling the Q&A the “fuse to light” and “explode” the situation.

Once the queen of daytime TV, Williams stepped back from the spotlight in 2021, with her show wrapping the following year without her, according to Page Six.
