Wendy Williams' desperate plea for help

Wendy Williams’ scheduled appearance comes just days after she made a public cry for help from inside her assisted living facility.

On Monday morning, the former 'Wendy Williams Show' host dropped a handwritten note from her New York City window that simply read, “Help! Wendy!!”

The alarming message prompted a police wellness check and she was subsequently taken to Lenox Hill Hospital by ambulance, according to Page Six.

Reports from TMZ indicate that Williams was "alert and oriented" upon arrival and even passed a psychiatric evaluation, scoring 10 out of 10 on a mental capacity test.

Wendy Williams' ongoing guardianship battle

Wendy Williams has been under a court-ordered guardianship since 2022.

Concerns over her health escalated in 2023 when it was revealed that she had been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia.

However, Williams and her family have since disputed claims of cognitive impairment.

Recently, she filed a motion to remove her legal guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, and dismissed her court-appointed attorney.

According to TMZ, if her request is denied, Williams plans to demand a jury trial to fight for her independence.

Wendy Williams’ frustrations with assisted living

In January, Wendy Williams made headlines when she called into 'The Breakfast Club' alongside her niece, Alex Finnie, comparing her assisted living facility to a "prison."

Both Williams and Finnie pushed back against claims that she was mentally unfit, insisting that she remains capable of making her own decisions.

Since her departure from 'The Wendy Williams Show' in 2021, Williams has remained largely out of the public eye.

However, the Lifetime documentary, 'Where Is Wendy Williams?' in 2024 shed light on her personal struggles and ongoing battle for control over her life.

While her representative has not commented, ABC’s talk show guest list confirmed Williams’ participation in the upcoming episode, where she is expected to address her current situation.

Suzanne Bass, the former co-executive producer of Williams’ show, broke the news on Instagram on Sunday, March 9, sharing a video call with the embattled star.
