'West Wing’ star Bradley Whitford slams Cheryl Hines over RFK Jr's endorsement of Donald Trump
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Bradley Whitford, renowned for his portrayal of White House Deputy Chief of Staff Josh Lyman on the iconic political drama 'The West Wing,' was candid in his response to Cheryl Hines on X, following her husband Robert F Kennedy Jr's recent endorsement of Donald Trump.
On Saturday, August 24, Whitford, 64, voiced his strong disapproval on social media, criticizing Hines for her silence following her husband’s unexpected political shift, as reported by The Daily Beast.
Hey @CherylHines, way to stay silent while your lunatic husband throws his support behind the adjudicated rapist who brags about stripping women of their fundamental rights. Gutsy. Great example for the kids. Profile in courage. https://t.co/DrhXY3npcF

Bradley Whitford torches Cheryl Hines for RFK Jr's backing of Donald Trump
"Hey @CherylHines, way to stay silent while your lunatic husband throws his support behind the adjudicated rapist who brags about stripping women of their fundamental rights," Bradley Whitford wrote.
He then added a sharp remark aimed at Hines’ character and the example she’s setting: "Gutsy. Great example for the kids. Profile in courage," a nod to the classic book written by 35th US President John F Kennedy.
Whitford’s tweet included a video of Trump proudly discussing how his Supreme Court appointments were instrumental in overturning Roe v Wade, further emphasizing the actor's dismay at Kennedy's endorsement of Trump.
Hines, 58, known for her role on 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' alongside Larry David, has not been shy about her discomfort with some of Kennedy’s more extreme viewpoints, especially his stance on vaccines and his tendency to make outlandish claims.
Despite this, she has tried to maintain a level of public support for her husband while distancing herself from his more controversial remarks.
In 2022, Kennedy sparked outrage when he invoked Anne Frank’s name to argue that Jews had more freedom during the Holocaust than unvaccinated Americans.
Hines quickly responded on X, condemning her husband’s comparison as "reprehensible and insensitive," stating that his opinions did not reflect her own. However, she later deleted the tweet.
Following Kennedy's endorsement of Trump, Hines posted a message on her X account, thanking supporters of her husband’s now-suspended presidential campaign.
The decision has been made to suspend my husband's, Robert Kennedy Jr.'s, presidency and I'd like to extend a sincere, deeply heartfelt thank you to every person who has worked so tirelessly and lovingly on his campaign. They have accomplished feats that were said to be…

"The decision has been made to suspend my husband’s, Robert Kennedy Jr’s, presidency and I’d like to extend a sincere, deeply heartfelt thank you to every person who has worked so tirelessly and lovingly on his campaign," she wrote.
While the post appeared to be a gesture of gratitude, it did little to quell the criticism from those who expected her to take a firmer stand against her husband’s controversial decision.
