WASHINGTON, DC: Former president Donald Trump thanked former mob boss Salvatore "Sammy The Bull" Gravano for his support as a character witness, reported The Daily Beast.

The Republican frontrunner took to his social media platform Truth Social on Friday, January 12, 2024, sharing a video of the Gambino Crime Family mobster vouching for Trump's moral character.

"Thank you to Sammy the Bull. I hope Judges Engoron & Kaplan see this. We need fairness, strength and honesty in our New York Courts. We don't have it now!" the former president wrote.

Trump's unusual expression of gratitude came amid his wait for a final ruling over his New York Civil fraud trial, where he is facing a $370 million penalty and a potential lifetime ban from the state's real estate industry for inflating his net worth. Manhattan Supreme Court Judge Arthur Engoron is anticipated to deliver the final ruling by January 31.

The other judge mentioned in the White House hopeful's post is Judge Lewis Kaplan, who is presiding over the Jean Carrol defamation trial against him.

'Sammy The Bull' says he could not corrupt Donald Trump

In the 50-second clip, Gravano claimed that Trump, as a real estate mogul in the 1980s, surrounded himself with FBI officers for security.

"I tried a couple times to press him, and make arrangements where I could work with him," the ex-mobster said in the clip.

He continued, "I did that with other big contractors. I had the power of the unions. I could do all kinds of little things, but I couldn't get to him. He wouldn't bite."

Trump shared the mob bosses's interview clip while being caught up in a myriad of legal troubles despite leading the Republican primary opinion polls with a sizeable dominance.

Kickstarting the election year, he is expecting success in the Iowa caucus scheduled on January 15, leading to a likely Biden-Trump rematch in November.
