CINCINNATI, OHIO: Republican presidential hopeful Vivek Ramaswamy faced brutal trolling as he reiterated his vow to withdraw from Maine and Colorado ballots as former President Donald Trump was declared ineligible for them.

During his appearance on 'NewsNation Prime' on Monday, January 1, the 38-year-old Indian-American tech entrepreneur declared that he intended to "nullify" Maine and Colorado by abstaining from their elections.

"Yeah, look, it wasn’t in protest. I’m actually a very practical person. I think that it was deeply unconstitutional and wrong for one individual secretary of state," said the presidential hopeful, according to The Hill.

He added, "Without any trial or procedure or anything else, just to decide and wake up one day to Donald Trump’s not on the ballot. That’s wrong."

Vivek Ramaswamy calls Maine and Colorado's decision to remove Donald Trump from ballots 'unconstitutional'

Based on their interpretations of how the 14th Amendment's insurrection clause relates to Trump's behavior surrounding the Capitol insurrection of January 6, 2021, Maine and Colorado barred him from appearing on the state ballots for the 2024 presidential race.

A Colorado top court was the first to declare on December 19 that Section 3 of the 14th Amendment applied to him.

In Maine, Secretary of State Shenna Bellows removed the ex-POTUS from the state’s primary ballot. As of now, her decision is on hold until Maine's Superior Court issues a ruling.

Subsequently, Trump has vowed to challenge both rulings in court, which means the Supreme Court will probably hear the case.

Addressing the ruling, Ramaswamy called the Colorado Supreme Court "a cabal of judges" and said, "If they’re going to behave in that unconstitutional way, the Republican candidates can actually stop this form of election interference."

He added, "So I said I would remove my name from those ballots, and I called on the other Republicans in the race to do the same thing."

"Now, the others have been sidestepping the issue, have been radio silent on it. But if every Republican removes themselves, that nullifies Maine and it nullifies Colorado if they remove a candidate unconstitutionally from that ballot," noted the entrepreneur.

Ramaswamy previously pushed his fellow GOP presidential candidates to withdraw from the Colorado ballot, saying, "If they remove Trump’s name, my name is off too and I call on Ron DeSantis, Nikki Haley, and Chris Christie to do the same thing. Their words are cheap. Action speaks louder than words."

He asserted, "Now, their unwillingness to do that, I think reveals that they’re actually complicit in part, in what’s happening, even if indirectly. I think it’s unconstitutional and we need to stand on principle, so my position is clear."

Internet takes a dig at Vivek Ramaswamy as he reiterates his vow to withdraw from Maine and Colorado ballots

Soon after Ramaswamy's remarks from the 'NewsNation Prime' appearance came to light, netizens didn't hold back when it came to slamming the presidential hopeful.

One wrote, "I thought his circus was already over," while another noted, "Why do you keep telling us 🙄Withdraw already what are you waiting for … 🙄."

"Dude is only 38. He's playing the long game. He is basically guaranteed to be a GOP candidate at some point in the future. If he has to skip out this election to appease the MAGAs then that's a worthwhile tradeoff," expressed a person.

Someone else chimed in, "Perhaps Ramaswamy could be so kind as to withdraw from all 50 states," with an individual mocking, "Why should he care; he is not winning any elections."

One more attacked, "Meaningless when he won't be on the ballot anywhere. He will drop out before Iowa if he wants to have any future political career."
