'What’s the plan for longevity?': Rob Lowe says he feels weight loss drugs are great but not enough
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Rob Lowe, the star of '9-1-1: Lone Star', is turning 60 next month and he has some health goals in mind.
He also weighs in on the popular weight loss drugs like Ozempic, which he thinks are great but not enough.
Rob Lowe questions use of Ozempic and other weight loss drugs: 'What’s the plan?'
Rob Lowe said that he is happy for those who have benefited from these drugs, but he wonders what their long-term plan is.
He told People, “I see people who are taking all the new weight loss drugs and that’s great, and it’s really changed their lives."
"But my concern always is, okay, now what? What’s the plan for the longevity of everything?,” he added.
He further said that he does not believe in diets but in lifestyle changes. “I never ever talk about diets, I talk about lifestyle,” he said.
Rob Lowe’s diet challenge is cutting sugar
Rob Lowe is known for his fit and toned body, but he admits that he has a sweet tooth that often tempts him.
He said that he tries to eat in moderation, rather than depriving himself of his favorite treats. He also said that he has become more disciplined with his diet as he gets older.
“I’m trying to be even more disciplined now as I’m older just because as you get older, you need to watch what you eat even more than when you were younger," 'The Outsiders' star said.
"So I tried to cut sugar completely as my New Year’s resolution. And now I’m figuring, okay, that’s not sustainable for me, but how do I really watch my sugar consumption?,” he added.
Rob Lowe’s fitness secret is enjoying physical activity
Lowe said that he has no problem with staying active and fit as he loves physical exertion and adventure.
The star of 'Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me' said that he feels “better than I’ve ever felt” and that he has natural motivation to train or do something physical.
“I can’t wait to train or to do something physical. I have very good friends and family that have to be dragged into doing something physical… that would be super tough to overcome," Lowe said.
He also said that he likes to vary his activities and try new things. “I am blessed that I really enjoy physical exertion and adventure. So if I’m not on a set, I build my entire day around what activity I’m going to do. It might be a paddle in the ocean, a hike, running sprints on the track, pickleball, tennis. I’m pretty much up for anything,” he said.
He concluded by saying that his health goal is to find the balance between “longevity and consistency” and “non-injury and pushing myself as hard as I ever did.” He said, “It’s a lifestyle," People reports.
