MANHATTAN, NEW YORK: During a campaign visit to an Upper Manhattan bodega on Tuesday evening, former President Donald Trump commented on the ongoing criminal trial, claiming that it is having a "reverse effect."

Earlier that same day, Trump spent several hours in a New York City courtroom for the second day of his hush money criminal trial, according to Fox News.

The charges against him were brought by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, although, the 2024 presumptive Republican presidential nominee pleaded not guilty to all charges.

What did Donald Trump say to his supporters in New York after leaving the courtroom?

After spending more than eight hours sitting in a courtroom for jury selection, Donald Trump made a campaign stop at Sanaa Convenience Store in Upper Manhattan on Tuesday evening.

The ex-POTUS was received by a throng of his ever-ardent supporters who chanted "Trump, Trump, Trump," "Four more years," and "We love Trump."

The crowd even sang the US National Anthem, showing their enthusiasm for the former Commander-in-Chief.

Trump declared that the trial and the charges brought against him are "all politics," "rigged," and "coming out of the [Biden] White House."

"It makes me campaign locally, and that's okay," the MAGA figurehead remarked. "We're doing better now than we've ever done, so I think it's having a reverse effect."

"We're going to come in – Number one, you have to stop crime and we're going to let the police do their job. They have to be given back their authority. They have to be able to do their job," he said. "And we're going to come into New York. We're making a big play for New York, other cities, too. But this city, I love this city."

Trump claimed the Big Apple has "gotten so bad in the last three years, four years."

"And we're going to straighten New York out. So running for president, we're putting a big hit in New York – we could win New York," he asserted.

The former President of the United States said that "half a million migrants were brought in to take over the parks, they took over your hotels, they take over everything."

"They've destroyed so many people. The African-American community now is not getting jobs. Migrants are taking their jobs that are here illegally. Hispanics are not getting jobs. Migrants are taking the jobs," Trump alleged.

"If you look at the unemployment, the unemployment is good for migrants,” he continued. “Now, it went up 10%. All migrants. And they're in our country now. They're coming from prisons. I don't know where you know, they come from mental institutions. They come from prisons. They come from places you don't want to know about."

Going back to his historic criminal prosecution, Trump reiterated that it is a "Biden trial."

"They want to keep me off the campaign trail," the presumed GOP nominee argued. "But based on what I'm doing, I think there's more press here than if I went out to some [other] location."

With a gesture toward the police, Trump declared, "The police have to be able to do their job."

"The police in New York are great. They have to be able to do their job. They have to protect these people," Trump stated.

With regards to crime in the Empire State City, Trump declared, "It's Alvin Bragg's fault. Alvin Bragg does nothing. He goes after guys like Trump who did nothing wrong. Violent criminals, murderers? They know there are there are hundreds of murders all over the city. They know who they are. They don't pick them up. They go after Trump."

"The people of New York are not going to take it. That's why they're going to vote for Trump," he added.

Donald Trump's visit followed his second day of court proceedings for the process of jury selection.

The selection of seven jurors has been completed thus far, with court expected to resume on Thursday at 9:30 a.m.

DA Alvin Bragg has accused former President Trump of 34 counts of falsifying business records in the first degree.

Despite the charges, Trump has pleaded not guilty to all allegations and asserts that no crime was committed, consequently arguing against the need for a trial.

Internet slams Donald Trump

People on X chastised the former President of the United States for alleging that Democrats "want to keep me off the campaign trail."

One X user remarked, "Trump has become a sad parody of himself."

Another user wrote, "And if he lose it’s Rigged, correct?"

Another user said, "Lol, New York doesn’t love him."

One user quipped, "He predicted success of many elections since his first and that success rate is the only thing lower than the stock value of his social media company."

Another X user remarked, "It’s just too bad he sounds like a five year old when he speaks."

Another user asked, "His supporters might actuallu believe him. Where are the facts?"

Finally, this user tweeted, "This narrative haa been sung by right wing media and cluless social media hacks for the last 5 years. In Trump University echo chamber fantasy land Trump's impeachment in 2019 was going to lead to Trump winning re-election in 2020 (didn't happen). And the FBI raid at Maralago was going to galvanize the country to vote a huge red tsunami in the 2022 midterms (didn't happen) and Trump's indictments were going to lead to Republican special state election victories (didn't happen). The cult has been wrong every single time as they've stacked loss after loss after loss. It's time to stop believing the fairy tales propaganda echo chamber regurgitates. No one cares when your corrupt cult leader is held accountable. The majority of the country can't stand what whiny loser."
