WASHINGTON, DC: The White House on Wednesday, May 27 launched a blistering attack on political analyst Tim Miller, accusing him of amplifying misinformation linked to Iranian state media reporting on a proposed US-Iran framework and suggesting he should consider registering under the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA).

In a sharply worded response, officials dismissed Miller’s commentary as distorted and politically motivated, arguing that he had repeated claims sourced from foreign media without proper verification.

White House blasts Tim Miller

The White House statement went further, saying Miller’s interpretation of the situation reflected what it described as “disinformation” aligned with external narratives, adding that such behavior warranted scrutiny under foreign influence laws.

The controversy began after Miller reacted to circulating reports about an alleged early-stage US–Iran memorandum of understanding.

Posting on X, Miller argued that the reported terms appeared to deviate significantly from earlier US positions in the conflict.

He wrote that the initial demand had reportedly shifted from unconditional surrender to a more limited arrangement involving reopening of strategic waterways and a temporary pause in negotiations.

''Trump's initial demand was unconditional surrender. The current MOU is open the strait that had been previously opened but under Iran control + withdraw our military'', said Miller.

''And then maybe after 2 months we can continue nuclear negotiations that had been happening before. Yikes'', Miller added.

White House was quick to respond to Miller on X writing ''Tim Miller has such a severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome that has warped his peanut-sized brain that he’s starting to take Iranian state media as fact and peddle disinformation on their behalf. Maybe Tim should register under FARA for being an agent of a foreign country.''

Iranian state media outlines disputed draft framework

The reaction stemmed from a report circulated by Iranian state media claiming that an initial draft memorandum of understanding had been developed between Tehran and Washington.

According to the report, the alleged framework included provisions such as a reduction of US military presence near Iranian waters, lifting restrictions on maritime movement through the Strait of Hormuz and restoration of commercial shipping activity to pre-conflict levels within a defined timeframe.

It also suggested coordination on maritime routing with regional partners and a possible 60-day negotiation window for finalizing broader terms.

US officials have not confirmed any such agreement and have repeatedly disputed interpretations suggesting that a structured deal has already been reached.
