Who is Jasveen Sangha? 'Ketamine Queen' who sold 25 vials to Matthew Perry linked to another overdose death
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: A woman named Jasveen Sangha, dubbed 'Ketamine Queen of Los Angeles', is among the five suspects who have been charged in connection to the death of Matthew Perry.
She has been accused of selling multiple vials of ketamine to Perry, as reported by The Sun. Though Sangha has pleaded not guilty during her arraignment, she can get a maximum of life in prison if found guilty.
The ‘Friends’ star died on October 28, 2023, reportedly from acute effects of ketamine, and almost a year after his death, suspects were arrested on Thursday, August 15.
Matthew Perry’s family happy with the arrests
The other accused persons are reportedly doctors Salvador Plasencia and Mark Chavez, Perry's live-in assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa, and broker Mark Fleming.
Following their arrests, Perry’s family said, “We were and still are heartbroken by Matthew’s death, but it has helped to know law enforcement has taken his case very seriously.”
“We look forward to justice taking its course,” they added.
Besides, US Attorney Martin Estrada said, “These defendants took advantage of Mr. Perry's addiction issues to enrich themselves. They knew what they were doing was risking great danger to Mr Perry, but they did it anyway.”
“This case, along with our many other prosecutions of drug dealers who cause death, sends a clear message that we will hold drug dealers accountable for the deaths they cause,” he reportedly added.
Who is Jasveen Sangha?
Sangha, who reportedly holds dual citizenship of the United States and Great Britain, is a suspected drug dealer, who is infamously known as the “Ketamine Queen of Los Angeles”.
The Sun reported that Perry came in contact with her after the ketamine he was getting from the doctors became high-priced.
The North Hollywood resident was allegedly the one who sold the American-Canadian actor 50 vials of ketamine over two weeks, which led to his death, as reported by ABC7.
Fleming allegedly transferred the vials to Iwamasa from Sangha.
However, after the death of Perry, she was allegedly the one to tell Fleming, "Delete all our messages,” to apparently hide their involvement in the case.
The publication citing Estrada reported that a search at Sangha’s home led to the discovery of a "drug-selling emporium," which included cocaine, ketamine, scales, methamphetamine, and ledgers.
What are other cases against Jasveen Sangha?
Perry’s death was reportedly not the only one that happened due to Sangha’s ketamine.
She has been accused of being involved in the August 2019 death of 31-year-old Cody McLaury, who overdosed on ketamine.
Reports have said that she also Google searched “can ketamine be listed as a cause of death” after discovering McLaury’s death.
Meanwhile, Plasencia’s arrest has stunned one of his neighboring business owners, who reportedly stated, “I was treated there a few times. He was always very friendly so this is shocking. I took my daughter there and went there myself 10 days ago and he was there. Nothing seemed off at all.”
