Whoopi Goldberg has previously been the face of Alexandre Mattiussi's campaign, in which she took part last year. At the event on January 22, Wednesday, Goldberg looked stylish in a black coat dress paired with matching boots, complemented by a sleek black handbag.
When asked about attending the event, Goldberg expressed her excitement to Women's Wear Daily, saying, "They were kind enough to ask me if I would come and I said yes. [...] People seem to be all right with me here, and I seem to be OK with them so far. So it's all good."
Her appearance at the menswear show in Paris marked a moment of personal triumph, with many admiring her slim look.
Goldberg’s drastic transformation comes after she shared details of her weight loss journey by incorporating the drug Mounjaro into her regimen.
Whoopi Goldberg opens up about weight loss journey
Whoopi Goldberg had earlier openly discussed how she struggled with her weight and the health challenges she faced. She previously revealed that she weighed close to 21 stone (about 294 pounds) while working on the 2022 film 'Till', which began filming in 2021.
In June 2024, Goldberg candidly shared her experience on 'The View', stating, "I took Mounjaro. [...] I say it all the time because you can't go from close to 300lbs without somebody saying 'okay what happened?'"
Goldberg had also mentioned in a prior interview that steroids she took for a back issue contributed to her weight gain.
"I had issues with my lower back a couple of years ago. It got progressive worse. They do an operation and fixed it, but it just wasn't doing what it needed it to do, so they started giving me steroids. And over the course of almost two years I probably weighed 300 ... close to 300lbs when I did 'Till'," she explained during an appearance on 'The Don Lemon Show' in May last year.
Mounjaro, the medication Goldberg used, is an anti-diabetic drug approved for managing type 2 diabetes, Mirror reported. While it is not officially a weight loss drug, it has been linked to weight management when combined with a reduced-calorie diet and physical activity.
Last year, the UK's National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) recommended Mounjaro for weight management in specific cases.
Amid all the conversation around weight loss and medications, Goldberg has been vocal about the importance of not judging others. On 'The View', she had advised, “Stop judging everybody.”
"You have to take responsibility for yourself and see what's going on with your body," she added.
Her openness and advocacy for self-acceptance continue to resonate with her fans, as she balances her career and personal health goals with grace and authenticity.
