LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Will Ferrell is far from retiring his beloved Elf costume from his 2003 classic movie ‘Elf’.

The 57-year-old actor recently appeared at the LA Kings’ game at the Crypto.com Arena on December 29, in Los Angeles, California, per Just Jared.

But it was his choice of attire that brought the attention back to his holiday classic that was released two decades ago.

Ever since the movie debuted in 2003, ‘Elf’ has been dubbed as a holiday classic. However, this year, fans were reminded a little more about the movie, thanks to the flick’s star, Will Ferrell.

The ‘Will & Harper’ actor donned the vibrant yellow-and-green attire from his magical character Buddy the Elf while supporting the LA-based team taking on the Philadelphia Flyers on Sunday.

In one of the photos, Ferrell can be seen with a cigarette on his lips. The comedian completed his costume with a matching green hat with white and yellow highlights.

The ‘Step Brothers’ star’s outing came out just a few days after it was revealed that actor Mark Acheson’s iconic scene was nearly axed from the final cut of the movie.

Acheson, who made a brief cameo as the “Mailroom Guy" in 'Elf' recently shared with People that his scene with Ferrell was nearly deleted.

In the scene, Acheson had to say that he was only 26, and had “nothing” to show for his life. At that time, Ferrell replied, “You’re young, you’re so young.”

Speaking to the outlet, the actor revealed that while he was asked to deliver a single line, director Jon Favreau understood the importance of the scene and encouraged him and Will to improvise.

“The producers wanted to axe the whole scene because of that. I think, ‘Who is gonna believe this guy is 26?’ I mean, seriously. I believe I was 46 at the time and an older, 46 even at that. Because I never looked young in my life,” Acheson recalled.

He further continued that Favreau understood the irony in the line, saying, “He said that the joke, that’s the funny part, right,” before adding, “He kept me in but they, they didn’t want me but he did and thank God for me because it changed my career quite a bit.”

Will Ferrell's 'Elf' costume splits the Internet

The netizens were, however, left in splits with Will Ferrell's antics, with some of them even quipping that Buddy the Elf had fallen on hard times.

One of the social media users said, "How it started & how it’s going lol," with a hilarious side-by-side picture from the movie and the game day.

Another user noted, "Fantastic, now some parent has to explain this to their kid."

"Buddy the elf done fell on hard times😂😭," quipped someone else.

"I bet he wishes he did the sequel to Elf. Can’t believe he passed up on that," mourned another fan of the 'Elf' movie.
