Willie Nelson fans baffled to learn he’s Democrat after he urges Texans to vote for party candidate

PEDERNALES, TEXAS: Country singer Willie Nelson recently teamed up with Margo Price to endorse Democrat candidates for Senate in their respective states and encourage others to get registered to vote.

The Legendary singer has a long history of supporting Democrats and also filed a lawsuit in 2004 in an attempt to force the Texas Democratic Party to allow candidate Dennis Kucinich on the ballot, per Whiskey Riff.

Willie Nelson urges Texans to vote for Democrat candidates

Willie Nelson urged voters down in Texas to support Colin Allred in his race against Senator Ted Cruz, while Price asked her supporters in Tennessee to vote for Gloria Johnson in her bid for Senate against Marsha Blackburn.

Nelson said in an Instagram video, "I know we're all talking about the presidential race, and that's important, but Margo and I want to talk about our Texas and Tennessee voters."

Price added, "There are 33 US Senate seats up for grabs this November. We have a chance to vote out Marsha Blackburn."

Price told voters that they have an opportunity to vote in 'Tennessee Three' member Gloria Johnson, who in 2023, along with her colleagues, reclaimed legislative seats after being expelled for a gun control protest on the State House floor following a mass shooting at the Covenant school in Nashville that took the lives of three children and three adults, per Billboard.

Meanwhile, Nelson said, "I know first-hand that Colin will represent all Texans, no matter their race, who they worship or who they love," and Price added, "And I know Gloria will do something about the gun problem this country faces."

Willie Nelson rallies against GOP-backed voting changes in Texas

In July 2021, Willie Nelson led more than 1000 spectators in singing 'Vote Them Out' from the steps of the Texas Capitol during a rally in support of Democratic state legislators who bolted for Washington to block GOP-backed voting restrictions, per CBS News.

Clergy, politicians, constituents, and musicians spoke out about the proposals to impose voter ID requirements, limit ballot drop boxes and mail voting, and also strip local officials of their election authority, per the outlet.

Nelson sang, "If you don't like who's in there, vote them out" and invited the crowd to join him in singing lyrics he had earlier written about taking a stand at the ballot box.

Several internet users expressed shock when they found out that Willie Nelson is a Democrat and is endorsing Democrat candidates for Senate in their respective states.
