CARMEL, CALIFORNIA: Hollywood has lost a true icon. Wings Hauser, the actor known for his rugged charisma and dynamic performances across television and film, has died at the age of 78.
His wife, Cali Lili Hauser, confirmed the news on March 19 in a heartfelt Instagram post, paying tribute to his illustrious career and unwavering passion for the arts, as per People.

Born in Hollywood, Wings Hauser was destined for the entertainment industry.
As the son of Academy Award-winning writer, director, and producer Dwight A Hauser and mother Geraldine T Hauser, he carried on his family's creative legacy with a career spanning nearly six decades.

Wings Hauser's career was marked by series of versatile roles
Wings Hauser made his film debut in 'First to Fight' (1967) and went on to appear in an array of television shows, including 'Magnum, P.I.', 'The Fall Guy', 'Murder She Wrote', 'Perry Mason', 'Roseanne', 'Beverly Hills, 90210', 'Kingpin', 'Bones', and 'Criminal Minds'.
He became a household name in 1977 with his role as Greg Foster on 'The Young and the Restless', a part he reprised in 2010.

However, one of his most memorable performances was as the chillingly violent Ramrod in the 1982 thriller 'Vice Squad', a role that solidified his reputation as an intense and captivating actor.

In films, Wings held his own alongside Hollywood heavyweights, starring in 'The Insider' (1999) with Al Pacino and Russell Crowe, as well as 'Rubber' and 'Tough Guys Don’t Dance.'
Passing the torch to the next generation
Wings Hauser is survived by his wife Cali, and his children, Bright Hauser and Cole Hauser.
His son, Cole, has carried on the family tradition, making a name for himself as an actor, most notably as Rip Wheeler on 'Yellowstone,' opposite Kevin Costner.

At the season 5 premiere of 'Yellowstone' in November, Cole recalled the invaluable advice his father gave him about pursuing an acting career.
He said, "Oh god, yeah. I mean, I think his advice was, you know, persist until you succeed. Yeah, you know you're gonna get knocked down in this business. You're gonna be told 'no' a lot, but just keep following your dreams."

At the time of his death, Wings was working on a documentary about his life and career titled 'Working Class Actor'.
Wings Hauser’s wife vows to continue his legacy
In the same Instagram post, his wife had also expressed her commitment to continuing the project in his honor.
Her Instagram tribute that shared his wishes, read: "His recent and upcoming releases along with his living wish is handing the torch to the love of his life, Cali, requesting she continue the work embodying their partnership, their love story and honoring his legacy."

The official Instagram page for the documentary also paid homage to Wings.

It stated, "We are devastated over the great #WingsHauser passing. All of us mourn the loss of a huge heart & soul larger even than his astonishing creative legacy. His contributions to the arts survive into eternity and our deepest condolences go out to his family, friends & fans. RIP."
