Woman's story goes viral after husband allegedly deleted Taylor Swift-Travis Kelce wedding invite
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: A woman’s story has gone viral on the internet after she revealed that her husband, who had earlier worked with Taylor Swift, allegedly deleted their invite to her and Travis Kelce’s wedding on July 3.
The Grammy winner and the NFL star exchanged vows at Madison Square Garden in New York City last week.
Woman reveals she and husband were invited to attend Taylor Swift's wedding alongside A-listers
The ceremony was filled with hundreds of guests, like Tom Cruise, Gracie Abrams, Gigi Hadid, Karlie Kloss, Selena Gomez, Bradley Cooper, and Patrick and Brittany Mahomes from across the entertainment and sports worlds.
As the talks around the extravagant wedding are still going on, Melissa Garner Lee, who is a writer and licensed marriage and family therapist, has now disclosed that she and her producer husband, Garret "Jacknife" Lee, also received the invitation.
Woman recalls meeting 'graceful' Taylor Swift
But they could not go because Garret deleted the digital invite, fearing it might be a cybersecurity scam.
In a write-up for HuffPost, she wrote that she asked her husband why they did not receive the invite, given her husband and the pop megastar had worked together in 2012 for her album ‘Red’. Swift also had dinner with their family and “charmed all of us with her wit and grace”.
But Melissa was stunned to know the answer. Her husband told her, “I got a text but I thought it was spam,” and when she expressed her shock, he added, “Yeah — remember I told you I got a text from her manager? But I didn’t respond to it. It didn’t sound like him.”
Woman wanted to attend Taylor Swift's wedding for hope and 'hear the musical guests'
In his defense, Garret even asserted that he “thought someone was trying to hack my address book or something.”
The woman’s frustration ensued when her husband went on to ask her, “Why would you even want to go?”
To which, she replied, “I wanted to go because it would give me a bit of hope. Hope for love! Hope for some good in the world! I don’t know… maybe hope in America at a dark time? And I obviously would have loved to hear the musical guests. I mean… Stevie Nicks was supposed to play!”
Woman felt their behavior toward the wedding invite was 'rude'
Garret, however, did not seem to understand her frustration as he made another mistake by telling her, “Sorry hon… I’m sorry. It’s really hot out there — it would’ve been hot.”
His words angered her a lot, as in the writeup, Melissa added, “We were invited to the wedding of the decade and we didn’t go because it might be too hot? We didn’t even RSVP ‘no.’ How rude is that?”
But after some time, Melissa and Garret resolved their fight because their “lives are currently filled with much bigger things to worry about than Taylor Swift’s wedding.”
“So despite my disappointment and frustration, I forgave him,” she concluded.
