NASHVILLE, TENNESSE: Blake Shelton became the target of online ridicule after his pre-recorded New Year's Eve performance, with some fans saying the 47-year-old country star is "better than this."

The 'Austin' hitmaker was spotted on stage with 61-year-old Trace Adkins during CBS's 'New Year's Eve Live: Nashville's Big Bash'.

The duo nostalgically performed their 2011 chart-topper, "Hillbilly Bone". Despite being promoted as a live performance, viewers were swift to notice that it was, in fact, pre-recorded, per Daily Mail.

The pre-recording of the performance seems to have been necessitated by the country singer's double booking.

The singer, who is wedded to pop icon Gwen Stefani, was also scheduled to perform his greatest hits at Oklahoma’s WinStar Casino on the same evening.

Sporting matching black button-down shirts and jeans, the country music icons took fans on a nostalgic journey with their song that's over a decade old.

They also performed their popular song, "Hell Right".

The performance, brimming with stars, was conducted in front of a live audience, where the country singers displayed their close relationship by hugging during one of the songs.

While a large number of fans were thrilled to see the duo perform together after such a long time, some were upset that it was pre-recorded.

Some fans even went to the extent of labeling the entire performance as a "embarrasment to country music."

A few even humorously wondered how Blake managed to be in two places simultaneously.
