MANHATTAN, NEW YORK: Detractors of former President Donald Trump have derided his latest insinuation that his ever-ardent supporters did not show up in court during his hush money criminal trial due to the overwhelming presence of law enforcement officials there.

The embattled 77-year-old's apparent suggestion that the presence of police officers discouraged his followers from attending court has been met with skepticism by many, who ripped into him on the Internet, as per OK! Magazine.

What did Donald Trump say to prompt such an immediate backlash?

On Tuesday, April 23, the 2024 presumptive GOP nominee posted on Truth Social, “Why are Palestinian protesters, and even rioters, allowed to roam the Cities, scream, shout, sit, block traffic, enter buildings, not get permits, and basically do whatever they want including threatening Supreme Court Justices right in front of their homes, and yet people who truly LOVE our Country, and want to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN, are not allowed to “Peacefully Protest,” and are rudely and systematically shut down and ushered off to far away “holding areas,” essentially denying them their Constitutional Rights.”

"America-Loving Protesters should be allowed to protest at the front steps of Courthouses, all over the Country, just like it is allowed for those who are destroying our Country on the Radical Left, a two tiered system of justice," the former POTUS wrote.

"Free Speech and Assembly has been 'CHILLED' for USA SUPPORTERS," the MAGA strongman claimed. "GO OUT AND PEACEFULLY PROTEST. RALLY BEHIND MAGA. SAVE OUR COUNTRY! THE ONLY THING YOU HAVE TO FEAR IS FEAR ITSELF."

Internet lambasted Donald Trump over his statements

One X user remarked, "Sounds like somebody wishes he could have another January 6 moment."

Another user asked, "You're about to go to prison for money laundering and your biggest concern is some people yelling in the streets? Interesting."

Another user said, "We would ask the same of why they allow you to do those things."

One user claimed, "Nothing to see here. Just Trump encouraging many of his notoriously violent supporters to come “protest” at his criminal court trial. Move along."

Another X user wrote, "Because when you people protest, Democracy is threatened!"

Finally, this user tweeted, "OH DONALD. IT'S THIS SIMPLE. NO-ONE SHOWING UP ANYMORE."
