Zach Bryan under fire for teasing new song 'Rockaway' soon after Brianna Chickenfry split

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Zach Bryan has come under fire for teasing at a new song on his Instagram Story, just hours after announcing his shocking split from girlfriend Brianna 'Chickenfry' LaPaglia.

Bryan, 28, posted a melancholic clip from an unreleased song on Instagram on Tuesday, October 22. The video was released soon after Bryan revealed on his Instagram Story that he and LaPaglia, 25, were no longer together.

After screenshots of Zach Bryan's alleged profile on the celebrity dating app Raya went viral, the country music singer was met with a barrage of condemnation.

Following the exposure of his purported profile, the 'Pink Skies' hitmaker posted a lengthy statement on Instagram announcing that he and LaPaglia had split up after more than a year of dating.

Shortly after, LaPaglia issued a statement where she said she was "feeling really blindsided" and that she would be taking a break from social media "to heal privately."

Meanwhile, Bryan used social media to promote an upcoming project just 24 hours after announcing his separation, leaving his ex devastated.

Fans mocked the singer for "treating women in a toxic way for song inspiration" after he posted a surprise video of himself playing the piano and singing a few songs, per Daily Mail.

In the Instagram post, Bryan played the piano while seated with his back to the camera. In the song 'Rockaway', the vocalist reminisces on happy times spent in Queens, New York.

The lyrics were: "Recall when we / Went to Rockaway Beach / Summer heat in eastern Queens / And a subway ride/ Picnic chairs, umbrellas over brunette hair/ Taking to the tides cool in, before the winter came."

Bryan turned off comments, perhaps to prevent fan backlash, and poured his feelings into his songs.

The ex-couple first met at the 2023 Academy of Country Music Awards, one month before LaPaglia's surprise onstage debut during one of Bryan's June 2023 shows in New York City.

In a July 2023 episode of her 'PlanBri Uncut' podcast, LaPaglia revealed that she was dating Bryan. The two of them made their red carpet debut together at the Grammys in February.

Although Bryan has not spoken out about the breakup any further, a source told Us Weekly that LaPaglia was "deeply upset" about what had happened.

People on the internet were taken aback that he would promote a song immediately after his romance with Brianna LaPaglia ended, and the teaser appears to be a reference to his breakup with the content creator.

Following the video, the country music star's fans flooded TikTok with their opinions, calling him "diabolical." One wrote, "He's trash," while another remarked, "Treating women in a toxic way for song inspiration."

Another fan commented, He needs to go away and heal. Stop the madness," while one added, "This is diabolical."

Others took to X (formerly Twitter) to slam the country music singer as one said in part, "Zach Bryan breaking up with his girl then publicly on dating apps the next day THEN releasing a love song written about her is DIABOLICAL."

A second X user wrote, "He ended their relationship just so he could be emotional and write emotional music."

"He dates and breaks up with girls in order to create music. Big brain," remarked one.

Another snarked, "Oh, come on, don’t fall for this… Demand more than publicity stunts from your favorite artists. This is pathetic."

One added, "Zach Bryan makes decent music but it’s not enough to be able to cheat on every woman he’s been with. Sir, you’re balding."
