LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Keith Olbermann, former MSNBC host known for his fiery liberal commentary, has stirred up controversy once again, this time with a shocking remark on former President Donald Trump social media.

The 65-year-old media figure, who now hosts a podcast, ignited fury when he suggested on X that there's "always the hope" that Trump may be assassinated.

Keith Olbermann's assassination remark reignites criticism

According to DailyMail, the uproar began with Trump's comments about being mistreated, coupled with his comparison to Lincoln, which prompted Olbermann to mention Lincoln's assassination.

He quipped on X, "There's always the hope." The post was later deleted.

This incendiary remark from Olbermann, who gained fame as a sports reporter and later as the host of MSNBC's 'Countdown with Keith Olbermann', has reignited criticism of his penchant for controversial statements.

Olbermann's history of controversy

Olbermann has been no stranger to making headlines with his outspoken liberal views, including referring to former President George W Bush as a "fascist" and calling for his resignation in 2008.

The latest controversy is just one example of Olbermann's polarizing behavior, which has previously led to forced apologies and public backlash.

In addition to his podcasting ventures, Olbermann has remained active in political commentary, frequently targeting figures aligned with Trump and conservative ideology.

"Removed from society," Olbermann said of Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett and Fox News host Sean Hannity, underscoring his ongoing commitment to progressive causes.

Despite his past successes, including his tenure at MSNBC and his popular web series 'The Resistance with Keith Olbermann', the media personality continues to court controversy.

Speculation about his potential return to mainstream television, however, has yet to materialize.

"I was in talks with network execs," Olbermann revealed in 2022, "to replace outgoing host Rachel Maddow."

Social media erupts over Olbermann's remark

The response on social media to Keith Olbermann's controversial remark has been swift and unforgiving.

One user wrote, "He is an absolute moron."

Another wrote, "So by his own rules he should be jailed, correct?"

One user wrote, "It’s hard to believe Keith Olbermann was once a highly paid sought after news commentator. Is he still relevant to anyone?"

One user replied, "Now I keep on asking myself why are they scare of this man? They hate and fear is so obvious."

One user commented, "Why isn’t he suspended for this???"
