Adele's ritual of respect for Celine Dion's legacy

Adele shared an image with a poignant tribute to Dion, explaining that performing in the same venue that Dion once called home has been meaningful to her from the beginning.

“I have been performing in Celine Dion’s room at the Colosseum for almost 2 years now. 4 weeks to go! It was the only venue I wanted to play in Vegas because it was built for her.”

The Grammy-winning singer also shared a personal ritual that honors Dion’s influence on her career: she keeps a photo of the Canadian icon beside the stage, touching it “every night before” stepping out to perform.

Adele calls Celine Dion 'one of my favorite people of all time'

In videos shared by fans, the two singers were seen embracing before Adele continued her performance of 'When We Were Young.'

Dion, visibly moved, waved to the audience and wiped away tears as Adele invited fans to celebrate her: “Give it up for Ms Celine Dion.”

Adele also took a moment to call Dion “one of my favorite people of all time,” a sentiment she has shared many times over the years.

Adele’s adoration for Dion is longstanding. In 2018, after attending one of Dion's shows, she declared her admiration in an Instagram post, calling her “Queen Celine.”

She wore a t-shirt emblazoned with Dion’s image, writing: “What a show, an absolute highlight of my life, thank you so much for the attention to your crowd and insane humour. Happy new year lady x.”

Dion, for her part, has reciprocated the admiration.

Celine Dion triumphs over Stiff Person Syndrome with powerful Paris Olympics comeback

While her shows have drawn massive crowds, Adele has hinted that she’ll be taking a “big break” from music after this demanding stretch.

Meanwhile, Dion has also made a comeback on stage, defying her health struggles.

After announcing her diagnosis of stiff person syndrome (SPS) last year, Dion has shared candidly about her challenges with the rare neurological disorder.

Despite her health battle, she delivered a powerful performance at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics, marking a triumphant return to the stage.

The Colosseum holds a special legacy for Dion, who first performed there in 2003 with her initial residency, which ran for 717 shows.

She later returned in 2011 for a second residency that extended through June 2019, solidifying her place in Las Vegas entertainment history.

Now, nearly two decades later, the venue has seen another music icon, Adele, honoring and celebrating her legacy.
