Alana 'Honey Boo Boo' Thompson threatens to take legal action against Mama June for 'stealing' her earnings
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Mama June Shannon faced the fury of her family over accusations that she embezzled her daughter Alana "Honey Boo Boo" Thompson's wages.
The 38-year-old television personality was accosted by several of her children in the latest episode of 'Mama June: Family Crisis', which aired on Friday, March 22.
Alana 'Honey Boo Boo' Thompson's Coogan account shows far less funds than what was anticipated
On Friday's installment of 'Mama June: Family Crisis', it came to light that Mama June had taken money out of Alana's Coogan account—a trust into which child stars' parents are legally obligated to deposit a portion of their earnings.
After learning the truth, Alana said, "Mama's really pissing me off because she’s trying to make everything about her damn self and it's like where’s my money? I’m gonna get the truth out of Mama and I will find out where my money is. Mama is not getting a slap on the wrist for this one."
The mother's actions also came as a shock to her husband, Justin Stroud, who noted that he knew nothing about it and expressed, "Honestly, I was really hurt because I thought me and June was supposed to be able to tell each other everything and if she knew that it was gonna blow up like this, she should have told me about it."
During a family meeting, which started rather amicably, June provided a statement of Alana's Coogan account showing it had $33,000, far less than her daughters had anticipated. For instance, Lauryn "Pumpkin" Efird, Alana's elder sister, felt the amount should have been "at least over $200,000."
She even commented that her youngest daughter "has a lot of money that she's going to have access to that normal 18-year-olds don't even have a fraction of."
June claimed that Alana spent a large portion of her money on herself and asserted that 50% of her younger daughter's income was automatically taken for taxes, however, Alana refuted the claim.
Lauryn asserted that Mama June was "smart" since she knew to deposit "the bare minimum" into Alana's account that was "legally right and then pocketed the rest, Lord knows what she did or where it went."
Subsequently, Lauryn labeled June "a dirty dog" and accused her mother of deliberately spending a chunk of Alana's wages before they were transferred to the Coogan account.
"I honestly did not think she could stoop that low," said Lauryn to Mama June as she highlighted that Alana was "the reason you're famous, to begin with," as per PEOPLE Magazine.
June retorted, "I've been honest, d*****s," to Lauryn's accusation that her mother couldn't "be honest" about how she utilized the money.
Alana broke into tears when she realized she had no idea how she was going to pay for her college tuition and expressed, "You don't really give a f**k that you took our money, that's the real problem here. That's the problem," aiming at her mother.
Mama June says she used $150,000 out of Honey Boo Boo's past earnings to buy a house
While acknowledging that she had spent 80% of Alana's previous wages and left the remainder for her daughter, June said that everyone had profited from her use of her youngest child's money on "trips, everything, houses, stuff like that."
Mama June also admitted that she had used $150,000 out of her daughter's funds to buy a house, as per Daily Mail.
Later, Alana expressed, "Even though Mama was in her addiction, I still think that she would be smart enough to keep my damn money in my account. But [she] didn't do that."
The 18-year-old asserted she wanted to have access to her funds, noting she wasn't above pursuing legal action. Alana sternly stated, "I do expect the money to be paid back, or we're going to take [June] to court."
In a confessional, the daughter further said, "Something's gonna happen because you ain't fitting to just get away with stealing my money, baby."
