In the February 23 premiere of his new TLC reality show, 'The Baldwins', the actor, 66, reflected on the tragic incident and its aftermath, sharing how it impacted his mental health and his personal life.
In the debut episode, Baldwin discussed the accidental shooting death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and the legal drama that followed. He spoke candidly about how the incident affected his psychological state.

Alec Baldwin admitted to Hilaria, his wife, that the experience had been difficult to process.
"This has been just surreal. I mean, I can't even believe that we're going through this, and I always feel more in pain about you than me, because I think to myself, well, you know, I'm going to try to my best to just get through it, and I think what it's done to you and how much it's hurt you and everything," he said in the upcoming February 23 episode of the TLC show.
In a confessional, Baldwin revealed the deep toll it took on him: “This past year was just terrible. There were times I'd lay in bed. I'd go, ‘Wow, my kids. I can't get up.’ That's not like me. I'm not like that at all, not in any way am I like that. Never.”
Hilaria, who has stood by Alec throughout the ordeal, revealed that those close to him had noticed a decline in his mental health.
"Everyone who is close to Alec has seen his mental health decline," she said. She also shared that Alec's OCD had worsened and that he had been diagnosed with PTSD.
"He was diagnosed with PTSD, and he says in his darkest moments, ‘If an accident had to have happened this day, why am I still here? Why couldn't it have been me?’" she explained.
Baldwin confirmed these feelings, saying, "You wake up in the morning and you're like, ‘Oh god, why did I wake up?’” When a friend asked him how he was doing, Baldwin responded, “I said, ‘I'm happier when I'm asleep than when I'm awake.’”
The incident, which occurred on October 27, 2021, when Baldwin was holding a prop gun that accidentally went off, killing Hutchins, continues to affect the Baldwin family. Baldwin has maintained that he did not fire the gun and had no knowledge that it was loaded with live rounds instead of dummy ammunition.
