EAST HAMPTON, NEW YORK: Alec Baldwin blamed a “garbage truck the size of a whale” for a car crash that left his wife Hilaria Baldwin’s white Range Rover smashed into a tree in the Hamptons on Monday, October 13.

The 67-year-old actor, who was traveling with his brother Stephen Baldwin, assured fans that both were unharmed after the Monday afternoon collision on Montauk Highway.

In an Instagram video posted on Monday night, Alec Baldwin recounted the bizarre chain of events that led to the crash, claiming a garbage truck abruptly cut him off.

“To avoid hitting him, I hit a tree, I hit a big, fat tree and crushed my car — my wife’s car. I crushed my wife’s car. I feel bad about that. But it’s all fine, I’m fine, and my brother’s fine,” the 'Beetlejuice' actor shared.

Photos from the scene showed a white Range Rover crashed into a tree near a blue tow truck, with a National Waste Services garbage truck also present. Witnesses said the truck remained at the site as police and emergency personnel arrived.

Despite the damage, Alec appeared in good spirits, assuring followers that the incident was minor and praising first responders for their professionalism. “As nice as can be, as pleasant as can be about the whole thing,” he said, highlighting an “Officer Gerken” from the East Hampton Police Department for his assistance.

Alec Baldwin’s video, filmed in part at the scene of the wreck, veered between discussing the crash and reminiscing about his weekend at the Hamptons International Film Festival, which had concluded the day before. He spent a portion of the clip congratulating the event’s organizers, including his fellow chairs and executive board members.

The actor also mentioned his upcoming travel plans, saying, “I’m going to LA to see my family, can’t wait. I’m going out to California to gather my family, to spend a few days there and then I’m home.”
