Alec Baldwin stars as outlaw in the run in first trailer of 'Rust' following Halyna Hutchins' tragedy

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The first trailer for 'Rust' has been released more than three years after the on-set shooting that killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins in New Mexico.
Alec Baldwin, who stars in and co-produced the film, was initially charged with involuntary manslaughter in connection with the shooting.
The case against him was ultimately dismissed during the trial in 2024.
Alec Baldwin stars as an outlaw on the run in 'Rust'
In the newly released trailer, Alec Baldwin appears as Harland Rust, an outlaw on the run, riding on horseback and engaging in gunfights in the Wild West.
A description below the video places the action in 1880s Kansas.

"Some things in this life you can’t get back, I reckon," Baldwin says to his on-screen grandson Lucas McCalister, played by Patrick Scott McDermott, as per The Hollywood Reporter.
Alec Baldwin's character says 'only order that exists' is the order 'we impose'
The storyline follows McCalister, an orphan who accidentally kills a rancher and is sentenced to death. Rust helps him escape, leading to a dangerous journey through the wilderness.
“The only order that exists in this world is the order we impose,” Baldwin’s character appears to say in the trailer.
“If man loses sight of that, he’s got nothin’,” he adds, as per New York Post.
The fugitive duo is pursued by US Marshal Wood Helm, played by Josh Hopkins, and a relentless bounty hunter known as Preacher, portrayed by Travis Fimmel, according to the official synopsis.
The film, which was completed after Hutchins’ death, had its premiere at the Camerimage cinematography festival in Poland last November.
It is dedicated to her memory. Bianca Cline is credited alongside Hutchins as cinematographer as she took over the position when 'Rust' resumed production.
Hutchins' husband, Matthew Hutchins, is listed as an executive producer, and he and their son, Andros, will reportedly receive profits from the film.
Internet divided as Rust trailer releases amid past controversy
The internet has been divided since the 'Rust' trailer’s release, linking it to the past tragedy of Hutchins death in 2021.
One person wrote on YouTube, "Cinematography looks great. Within all reason, the tragedy that happened on set should never have occurred. Entertainment of this type should never have come at such a cost."
Another added, "Interesting that according to the plot outline, the film itself starts with an accidental death."
"Hutchins did the cinematography for Possessor. It's well worth a watch and shows the talent she had," another person noted.
"Now this looks good. Can't wait to see it. So incredibly sad all that happened, but Halyna Hutchins was/is so talented, and you can see that in the trailer," someone else commented.
Others remained skeptical. "Sadly, the cinematography is the only thing that looks good about it," one person wrote on X.
Another remarked, "'Some things in this life you can't get back, I reckon.' Very ironic line for this film."
Another viewer predicted, "This thing is dead on arrival."
Sadly, the cinematography is the only thing that looks good about it.
