Angelina Jolie hopes biopic on her life never gets made, calls the idea ‘most insane’
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Angelina Jolie strongly hopes that no one makes her biopic.
While promoting her movie 'Maria', when The Sunday Times recently asked her what her biopic would look like, Jolie replied, “That gets the most insane question award.”
Angelina Jolie shuts down idea of her biopic
Angelina Jolie has starred in several biopics. She played supermodel Gia Carangi in 1998's 'Gia' and journalist Mariane Pearl in 2007's 'A Mighty Heart'. But she doesn't want a movie on her life.
The ‘Original Sin’ star explained, “When you’re a public person and you’re playing [someone else], you’re conscious of how you would hate for somebody to interpret your life or think they understand your life, so we tried to be thoughtful [with Maria],” before asserting, “Let’s hope there isn’t one about my life.”
Angelina Jolie says singing is ‘the best therapy’
Interestingly, Angelina Jolie’s latest movie ‘Maria’ is a biopic of the American-Greek soprano, Maria Callas.
For the film, she went through extensive training. “It was the therapy I didn’t realize I needed," she said, as reported by The Independent.
“Singing opera requires you to be as emotionally open as you possibly can be — it’s not like singing in the car. It’s cathartic. I have never pushed myself or opened myself up in that way, that was daunting,” she claimed.
Also, during an October interview with Variety. Jolie revealed why she cried on the first day of her singing lessons.
The mother-of-six told the publication, “I walked into a room with the piano, and somebody said, ‘Ok, let’s see where you’re at.’ And I got really emotional. I took a big deep breath, and I let out a sound, and I started crying.”
“I’ve been holding a lot for a long time, and that beginning and that sound, and then when that sound would eventually come, it was the best therapy I’ve ever had,” Jolie added.
She even suggested people to “go to singing class” before they “try therapy".
Angelina Jolie’s performance in 'Maria' stuns director Pablo Larrain
'Maria' is directed by Pablo Larrain, who hailed the 49-year-old Angelina Jolie for giving her all to play the legendary diva beautifully.
The filmmaker said last month, per Entertainment Weekly, “I was moved to tears as I saw her burning herself to the point that I think it concludes the movie in an operatic way; it becomes a beautiful canvas of Maria's life, someone that has found an operatic act in performance.”
“I asked her to feel the emotion and feel how broken she was in this moment of joy,” Larraín recalled.
He also confessed that he “couldn’t believe how beautiful what was happening in front of the camera” was to behold.
'Maria' was released on November 27 in the US. It will be available to stream on Netflix from December 11.
