WASHINGTON, DC: Florida Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna praised President Donald Trump's freezing of asylum decisions from 'Third World countries' and said that if proper vetting were carried out, the shooting suspect would not have been in the United States.

The US is freezing all asylum decisions as the POTUS hardens his anti-migrant stance after an Afghan national allegedly shot two National Guard members in Washington, officials said on Friday, November 28.

Anna Paulina talks about the 'need to pause everything'

During an interview with Fox News on Friday, the host asked the Congresswoman if it was a smart first step by the President to stop asylum and halt immigration from 'Third World countries'.

"I 100 percent back him, and I hope Congress can codify something related. Right now, under the current system we have in place, there have been so many illegals that have come in unvetted, unchecked, under the Biden administration, that our system is bogged down," Luna said.

She said, "The majority of cases that we take as Congressional officers are immigration related. We have people who want to come here legally, but they can't even get through the process because so many people have come here the wrong way."

"We need to pause everything. There is no reason we need to be taking in people that - A, don't want to assimilate; and B, I don't even know if they can contribute to the society we have. Had the proper vetting been done, this individual wouldn't have come to this country," she concluded.

Rahmanullah Lakanwal, 29, is the prime suspect and has been accused of shooting two National Guard members in Washington, DC, on Wednesday, November 26. One of the guardsmen, identified as Sarah Beckstrom, succumbed to her injuries.

DC shooting suspect faces first-degree murder charge

US Attorney for DC Jeanine Pirro revealed on Friday, November 28, that the charges against the suspected shooter, Rahmanullah Lakanwal, were upgraded from assault to "murder in the first degree".

While in conversation with 'Fox and Friends', Pirro prayed for the family of slain Sarah Beckstrom and noted that Sarah answered the call to serve her nation and had volunteered on Thanksgiving.

She further said that Sarah was shot down, "ambush style", by an individual who was now being charged with first-degree murder.

Pirro also added that she was certain that many more charges would come up as the investigation progressed and that they would find more information about Lakanwal.

"And being in a position to ambush and shoot down an innocent woman who was doing her duty to the people of this country," Pirro said.

She also said that they were continuing to seek warrants in the state of Washington and across the country to make the prosecution as factual as possible.

"To be gunned down on the streets on the nation’s holiday is an outrage, and the individual who did this will pay the ultimate price, according to the Attorney General Pam Bondi," she mentioned.
