Anna Paulina Luna says Newsom ‘b*****s on Internet’ all time, slams him for having ‘feminine energy’
WASHINGTON, DC: Florida Republican Rep Anna Paulina Luna took aim at California Gov Gavin Newsom during an appearance on the ‘PBD Podcast’ on Thursday, October 23, accusing the Democratic leader of having “feminine tendencies” and spending too much time “b******g on the internet” instead of addressing his state’s problems.
The outspoken congresswoman joined host Patrick Bet-David for a wide-ranging discussion that touched on California politics, Newsom’s rumored presidential ambitions, and his growing social media presence.
Anna Paulina Luna says Gavin Newsom is ‘trying to be Trump’ online
As Bet-David compared Gavin Newsom’s online persona to President Donald Trump, he noted that the California governor seemed to be “trying to be the Trump of the left.”
“You’re either a great troll or you’re trying to be,” Bet-David said. “Like Newsom is dying to be Trump, but he’s not. Newsom is trying to be Trump. Newsom’s not Trump, right? Nowhere near him. But everything he does, he’s trying to be… the Trump of the left.”
Luna agreed, sharing that she had made similar remarks during a recent television appearance. “I was on a show recently. I think it was on Comedy Central and they were talking about the ‘No Kings’ protests,” she said. “And I made a joke and I was like, ‘Well, if you’re talking about Gavin Newsom it would be the ‘No Queens’ protest.”
When the host asked if her comment was homophobic, Luna responded, “No, he just has feminine tendencies, and it’s totally true.”
Anna Paulina Luna slams Gavin Newsom for focusing on social media amid California crises
The congresswoman didn’t hold back as she continued to criticize the governor’s priorities. “I don’t know, like he b*****s on the internet all the time. It’s like, what are you doing, Gavin?
You have fires in the Palisades, what’s going on?” Luna said, referencing the Pacific Palisades wildfires that ravaged parts of Los Angeles County earlier this year.
Bet-David agreed, calling Newsom’s behavior “metro,” while Luna continued to suggest that California’s leadership was “out of touch” with everyday residents.
Their exchange came as Newsom’s communications team has drawn attention for adopting a more combative, meme-filled social media strategy that mirrors Trump’s style.
Californians question Gavin Newsom’s leadership amid fire crises
Newsom’s increasingly visible online persona comes at a politically sensitive time, with speculation mounting that he may run for president in 2028.
However, a Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies poll from April found that 54% of 6,201 registered voters believe the governor is “doing things that might benefit him as a possible candidate for president,” while only 26% think he’s “governing the state and helping to solve its problems.”
The survey followed devastating wildfires that destroyed thousands of homes and left many Californians frustrated with what they describe as a sluggish state response.
One Pacific Palisades resident told the 'Los Angeles Times' in August that trying to return home had been “a nightmare,” adding, “You deal with insurance adjusters, contractors, environmental tests, no one gives you a clear answer.”
Newsom’s office did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment.
