LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Armie Hammer is letting his truck of seven years go because he "can't afford gas anymore."

The 'Call Me By Your Name' actor, whose Hollywood career nosedived in 2021 after he was accused of cannibalism, sexual misconduct, and rape, took to his Instagram on Tuesday, August 27, just a day before his 38th birthday to announce that he is going to sell his beloved truck, sharing the reasons behind his decision.

Armie Hammer updates his fans about selling his truck as he returns to Los Angeles

In early 2021, the grave accusations against Armie Hammer started to crop up. However, after investigating, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) decided not to press any charges against the actor as they were "unable to prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt," as per Variety.

Hammer, who hasn't had any acting jobs since 2021, shared in the Instagram video that he bought a "tiny" hybrid car since he is unable to maintain his truck, according to Daily Mail.

Standing in the parking lot of a CarMax, he mentioned that he has been back in Tinseltown for "a couple of weeks now" and plans to embark on a new life in his 38th year.

Introducing the vehicle that he bought seven years ago, Hammer, who primarily resides in the Cayman Islands, said, "This is my truck. I bought this for myself in 2017 as a Christmas gift for myself."

"I have loved this truck intensely and taken it camping and across the country multiple times and on long road trips and I've taken it on one last road trip... to CarMax," added 'The Social Network' star, appearing emotional.

He added that he was filming the video "because I'm selling my truck," while clarifying it was "not an ad."

The actor went on to explain the reason for his drastic step, saying, "Since being back in LA, I have put about $400 or $500 worth of gas in it and I can't afford it."

He continued, "I can't afford the gas anymore," Hammer stated while recounting the times the vehicle was with him. "I mean, this truck, it took the kids home from the hospital and all that stuff," added Hammer, noting, "Amazing trips, but you know what, that's okay."

On the topic of his new vehicle, the father of two shared, "I've got a new car. It's tiny. It's a hybrid. I'm probably going to put about 10 bucks of gas in it a month and this is it. Here's to new beginnings."

He further mentioned, "It's my birthday tomorrow. So, August 28, I will be starting my birthday in a new car, in a new apartment, in a new life in Los Angeles."

Later, he thanked his truck for all the memories, adding, "You have gotten me a long way and I appreciate it all. I hope you take as good of care of the next person." "I just keep telling myself that parking is going to be easier and gas is going to be cheaper," concluded the actor with a tone of wistfulness.

This comes just months after he claimed he has never "been happier" in his life despite being "broke" and "canceled" over the accusations of sexual assault and cannibalism.

During his appearance on comedian Bill Maher's 'Club Random' podcast, Hammer said, "Someone might look at me and go, 'Yeah, but financially, you’re in a very different position than you’ve ever been in your entire life.'"

He went on, "And I look at that and I go, 'Yeah, And you know what it’s taught me is that I don’t need that because I’ve never been happier than I’ve ever been in my entire life.'"
