This caused quite a stir on social media, with many chiming in on Lizzo's exit and Banks' comments about it.
Adding to the drama, Banks recently faced backlash online after poking fun at Beyonce and her husband following the release of Beyonce's brand-new country album 'Cowboy Carter'.
Banks took to her Instagram story to throw some subtle jabs at Beyonce's cover of Dolly Parton's classic 'JOLENE', which is featured in the album, while also expressing doubt about Jay-Z's looks.

Banks didn't mince words, suggesting that Lizzo was essentially permitting people to laugh at her, by stating, "I took back my criticism of you because it definitely clicked in my mind that I definitely wasn't getting my point about the ways in which insidious people in corporate culture where positioning you to push demeaning initiatives, but sis.... your handle is "lizzo be eating," .... You've definitely given the public license to laugh at and with you by twerking at the Burger King counter and bathing in a tub of skittles... Self deprecation was certainly the aesthetic you chose to introduce yourself with."

Banks further stated, "So I don't see why you'd play victim rather than just stop intentionally inviting people to make jokes about that. You're a beautiful girl, with a handle on music theory, Grammy awards and tons of success, just change the narrative and go high brow philharmonic on these h**s and collab with ryuchi sakamoto."

This critique comes in the wake of Lizzo's performance at President Joe Biden's fundraiser, which drew criticism from the lawyer representing three dancers who had previously sued Lizzo for sexual harassment and creating a hostile work environment.
Internet users throw shade at Azealia Banks and Lizzo
A user on Facebook wrote, "Lizzo isn’t quitting music! It’s an attention ploy. At best she’ll take a break. Which considering how she treats her back up dancer’s perhaps she needs to do to relearn how to be nice!"
Another user wrote, "No offense, but I can't name not even one of Lizzo's songs. Maybe quitting music is a blessing."
A user commented, "Who cares about Azealia Banks? She's clearly not a girl's girl. Tearing down other women is not the way to rise up, sis."
Another user commented, "Lizzo quitting music is equivalent to breaking up with a girl first cause you heard she was gonna break up with you/"
A user called out Banks and stated, "She is an unknown who wants to trend using another used to be celebrity,🤭🤭🤭🤭🤭🤭🤭🤭🤭"
