LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: An insider close to Ben Affleck shared that while the 'Gone Girl' actor looks happy on the outside, he is struggling with "a lot of guilt" following his divorce from Jennifer Lopez, per OK Magazine.
The source explained, "Ben may come across looking all happy and cheery. And he is, for the most part, but he certainly has his down moments."

The insider added, "As much as he was relieved to escape this marriage, the divorce has still taken a toll on him. His reputation has taken a huge hit and he’s grappling with a lot of guilt."
Meanwhile, Affleck's ex-wife Jennifer Garner and his best friend Matt Damon have been by his side since his recent divorce. An insider also commented on the actor's struggle with alcohol, saying, "There’s always a worry that he’ll turn back to his vices when the going gets tough."
The source also said, "That’s the main reason you’re seeing Jen going over there nearly every day to make sure he’s okay. His mother, his brother and his close friends, like Matt Damon, are helping out too."
The insider further added, "They’re all in touch with him and with each other. They’re very much a team and acting as a de facto support group for him. If they’re seeing a thing to worry about, they alert each other immediately. Ben knows they’re all in touch, but he doesn’t know the extent of it."
A source previously spoke to the media about the problems in the couple's relationship. They shared, "Ben has a darkness to him that no other person can fix. Jennifer Garner couldn’t fix it, all the success in the world couldn’t fix it."
The source further mentioned, "Lopez gave everything she had, her whole heart. She would have done anything to make this work. Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez were reportedly seen at their West Hollywood office building on Monday, September 23, to meet with celebrity divorce attorney Laura Wasser, a month after the singer filed for divorce, per Page Six.
The pair reportedly started working with Wasser well before Lopez filed papers in Los Angeles County Superior Court, citing "irreconcilable differences."
The ongoing process could become complicated, as Affleck and Lopez did not sign a prenuptial agreement before their 2022 marriage. A source informed People earlier in September that it "has the potential to get ugly."
Additionally, some reports suggest that Affleck's production company, Artists Equity, which he co-founded with Matt Damon in 2022, could become a source of tension between him and Lopez.
