Ben Affleck opens up about divorce from Jennifer Lopez as he reflects on 'issues' in their marriage
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Ben Affleck has finally addressed his much-publicized divorce from Jennifer Lopez, providing clarity on the real reasons behind their split.
In a candid interview for the April issue of GQ, the 52-year-old actor discussed their relationship and their differing approaches to fame.

Speaking about his participation in the 2024 documentary 'The Greatest Love Story Never Told' with Lopez, Affleck explained, “Part of it was, ‘Okay, if I’m going to participate in this, I want to try to do it in an honest way and in a way that’s interesting.’”
He acknowledged that Lopez has a more public approach to fame, while he prefers to be private.
“As happens in relationships, you don’t always have the same attitude towards these things,” he said.
"I think it’s important to say that wasn’t the cause of some major fracture. It’s not like you can watch that documentary and go, 'Oh, now I understand the issues that these two had,' " he added.
Despite their breakup, Affleck expressed admiration for Lopez’s ability to navigate celebrity life.
“She has handled celebrity more adeptly and more adroitly than I have,” he noted.
"My temperament is to be a little bit more reserved and private than hers," said Affleck.
He also emphasized that their different perspectives on public and private life were not the root cause of their split.
Affleck dismissed any notion of scandal, saying, “There’s no soap opera, no intrigue. The truth is much more quotidian than people might believe.”
“It’s just a story about people trying to figure out their lives and relationships in ways that we all normally do,” he added.

Jennifer Lopez also touched on their breakup in Interview magazine’s October 2024 issue.
While acknowledging the emotional toll of their split, she remained positive, stating, “Not one second [of regret]... But now, on the other side of it, I think to myself, ‘F**k, that is exactly what I needed.’”

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez rekindled their romance in 2021, two decades after their first engagement in 2002, which ended in 2003.
The couple married in 2022 with two ceremonies, one in Las Vegas and another in Georgia.
However, Lopez filed for divorce in August 2024, finalizing it in January 2025.
Through it all, Affleck maintains that there is no dramatic ending to their love story, only two people evolving in different ways.
“I love and support this person. I believe in them. They’re great. I want people to see that,” he said, according to People.
