Benny Blanco surprises Selena Gomez with queso-filled bathtub for Valentine’s Day, fans call it ‘gross’

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Benny Blanco’s Valentine’s Day surprise for fiancee Selena Gomez was “cheesy” to say the least. 

While Selena’s reaction to the extravagant treat her 36-year-old record producer partner had prepared is still unknown, the internet was not at all impressed, as reported by Daily Mail. 

Blanco took a Tex-Mex spin at his Valentine’s Day surprise as he replaced rose petals to prepare a nachos trail to lead to a bathtub filled with queso.

Benny Blanco, who has been dating the Rare Beauty founder since 2023, shared a glimpse of his Valentine’s Day treat for his partner. 

In a unique twist, the ‘Eatside’ hitmaker replaced the traditional rose petal trail with a trail of nachos leading to a bathroom where more chips were arranged to read, “I [heart] YOU.”

Beside the loving message, a marble bathtub was filled with queso, presumable to act as a condiment to the tortilla chips.

In the video that Blanco posted online, the musician helped himself to a chip (kept in a large snack bowl beside the tub) and ate it with the cheese dip. 

The songwriter set the background music of the video to his new song with Gomez, ‘Scared Of Loving You’ from their joint upcoming album, ‘I Said I Love You First’. 

Blanco’s extravagant show of love came just a day after the couple announced their joint project on Thursday, February 13. Sharing a clip shot in vintage format, Blanco wrote, "I cant believe i get to spend the rest of my life with you."

A year after Gomez confirmed her relationship with Blanco, the ‘Lace It’ creator popped the question to the ‘Emilia Perez’ actress with an enormous diamond ring estimated to cost around $250K, per Page Six. 

In December 2024, the ‘Only Murders In The Building’ star shared her engagement news by posting the couple’s loved up pictures, writing, “forever begins now..”

Internet calls Benny Blanco's gesture for Selena Gomez 'beyond disgusting'

Though Benny Blanco planned an extravagant surprise for Selena Gomez, many fans of the couple did not like the gesture. While calling the entire surprise "gross", some social media users even went ahead to declare it "beyond disgusting".

One user looked down upon the lavish surprise, declaring, "I’m sorry but NO 🤢🤮."

"What a waste," chimed in another. 

Someone else was, meanwhile, wrote, "That is beyond disgusting..."

Another person shared their concern for the housekeeping staff who would clean the place, noting, "I feel bad for the person who is going to be stuck cleaning that disgusting s**t."

"I think he loves cheese more than Selena," quipped another user, while throwing a jibe at Blanco's over-the-top gesture.

Another user tried reading the underlying meaning, saying, "This screams I want attention so bad."
