LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Beyonce’s father, Mathew Knowles, has stepped forward to publicly denounce Kanye West’s recent offensive comments about his grandchildren, Rumi and Sir Carter.

The 73-year-old music executive did not hold back in expressing his disapproval of West’s remarks, which have sparked outrage among fans and industry professionals alike.

The controversy began on Tuesday, March 18, when Kanye West, 47, made a now-deleted post on X that questioned the existence of Beyonce and Jay-Z’s seven-year-old twins.

The post read, “WAIT HAS ANYONE EVER SEEN JAY Z AND BEYONCES YOUNGER KIDS,” before going on to use derogatory language to speculate about the twins’ mental capacity.

West’s comments quickly ignited backlash, as many saw them as not only inappropriate but also a direct attack on the fiercely private couple and their children.

Mathew Knowles says 'people pay a price for being stupid'

Three days later, Mathew Knowles addressed the controversy in an interview with TMZ, condemning Kanye West’s statements.

“People pay a price for being stupid, especially in the music industry,” Knowles remarked.

He also expressed hope that West seeks the mental health support he may need, adding, “I’m hopeful Kanye gets the type of help he needs, in terms of mental health.”

Knowles' comments highlight the growing concern within the entertainment industry over West’s behavior, which has frequently made headlines in recent years.

Tina Knowles also speaks out in defense of family

Mathew Knowles is not the only family member to respond to Kanye West’s offensive remarks.

His ex-wife, Tina Knowles, also appeared to address the controversy through social media.

On Wednesday, March 19, she shared a video on Instagram in which she humorously told a “corny joke” while on the set of a photoshoot for her upcoming book.

“I got a corny joke, want to hear it, here I go,” she said before delivering the punchline, “What happens when a snowman throws a tantrum? He has a meltdown. Y’all know that’s funny.”

Beyonce’s commitment to privacy

Despite the public nature of this controversy, Beyonce and Jay-Z have remained silent on the matter.

The couple has long been known for guarding their family’s privacy, and Beyonce has previously spoken about her determination to keep her personal life separate from her public persona.

In a September 2024 interview with GQ, the 43-year-old singer opened up about the measures she takes to protect her children from media scrutiny.

“One of the main things I’ve worked on extremely hard is making sure my kids can have as much normalcy and privacy as possible,” she stated.

“It’s very easy for celebrities to turn our lives into performance art. I have made an extreme effort to stay true to my boundaries and protect myself and my family. No amount of money is worth my peace,” Beyonce added.
